A Rolling Stone Gathers Whatever Is In Its Way

boehner-orangeSir Boehner of Orange is not a man who is cozy with the truth. He, like so many of his cohorts, believe it is a most malleable thing to be twisted and pulled into whatever shape is necessary to feed the agenda they are pushing at any given time.

As most of us know, the sequester is looming on the horizon, and the GOP chatter seems as usual to ignore facts and create a new reality as needed. Thus the sequester is the “president’s idea” as if he designed it as the solution to our fiscal ills.

The Grand Bargain that Boehner continues to claim fell through because the President “changed” the offer at the last minute, is a total lie. In fact Boehner made the deal only to discover that he could not control the crazy element in his own caucus. Because of the Hastert Rule (thou shalt not bring to the floor a bill not already approved by a majority of your party), Boehner knew the deal could only pass with Democratic help. That he was not prepared to do, so he created the myth that the President changed the offer.

Given that time was short and the GOP was threatening to destroy the economy unless they got their way, the President proposed a draconian alternative that would come into play in six months. This was supposed to ensure that a meaningful debate and agreement would ensue to avoid the awfulness of the sequester. The President originally offered a 50/50 deal–there would be a sequester that consisted of half tax increases and half budget cuts. Boehner refused that deal and insisted that all be cuts.

Moreover, at the conclusion of the sequester deal, Boehner bragged to the press and anyone else that would listen that he had gotten “98% of everything he had been asking for” so he declared himself and his Party the winner.

Those are the real facts.

What the GOP continues to miss here, is that we are not so gullible nor so stupid that we don’t know these facts. So, his little attempt to hijack the truth in favor of his new reality only elicits nods and uhuh’s from his own stupid base. The rest of America sees it for the series of lies it is, and of course, realizes that the GOP is still the party that protects corporate interests to the detriment of the rest of us.

No lessons yet learned. The GOP continues to wallow in the mire of lies. It will remain a party that can’t win the big one. It will continue to try to figure out ways to steal elections. It will continue to be the best comedy routine in town.

You have heard no doubt that the President is heading to Israel? And when he is there, he’s going to get a Presidential Medal of Distinction. And the Right wing reactionaries are livid. They just cannot understand why the vast majority of us cannot see that this man is a horrid, vile, Commie, Islamic lovin’ Israel hater. I mean they cannot fathom this as it is SO obvious that he has a “visceral hostility toward Israel.”

Their answer is of course that the person giving him the medal, Israeli President Shimon Peres, is just a figurehead, who is not liked by most of the population.

It makes me laugh. And then I read their shock and dismay again, and I laugh a bit louder and longer.

The circus continues.

I do so appreciate a Republican who wants to help the poor. Jeff Sessions is ready to do just that. His method? Cut welfare of course. I mean really, it just breeds dependency doesn’t it? At least that’s what Newt said back in the 90’s when he pushed through the welfare reforms that resulted in tens of thousands losing their benefits. (hint: you might find some of these folks among the homeless today.)

Anyway, Sessions is bristling at the idea that the GOP is being called the party of the rich. And in a memorandum, he made it clear that they shouldn’t tie this deep desire to help out our poor by tying it to deficit reduction–that looks bad. Instead cuts in food stamps and such should be tied to helping business get healthy so those jobs become available. As everyone knows giving stuff to the poor just breeds more grabby people. Everyone knows that.

Boy, I feel ever so much better knowing the GOP really has a heart.

If you have been wondering why the price of gas has gone up sharply, well, yes you guessed it, you can blame the neo-cons. They pushed sanctions against Iranian oil, making Europe and others refuse to buy any. The neo-cons were sure of course (they always are) that this would not impact American prices.

They were also sure that Saudi Arabia would pick up the slack. (That now seems unlikely).

West Texas oil is selling at $100 a barrel, which is not good either.

All this causes prices to rise (and Iran gets the benefit of that for what oil it does sell).

Thank your nearest Republican today!

I Need Two More Feet!

brokentoeWandering into the kitchen in the middle of the night for a glass of water, my toe met its Waterloo. No I didn’t trip up to Iowa, rather my toe met the corner of the wastebasket container, and my toe lost the battle. At first I figured it for merely another stubbing with searing pain for about two minutes, and then chalk it up as another of those miserable toe meets _________stories.

Twas not to be. As I turned from the sink, and began to walk, a tingling was felt that was definitely harbinger of much worse to come. I sat upon the sofa and manipulated the fourth digit and heard/felt a distinctive popping, which suggested that all was not kosher.

I moaned and hobbled off to  bed, where I moaned again. The Contrarian sat up.

“I broke my toe,” I groaned.

“Where?” he asked.

“On the way into the kitchen,” I quivered.

“On the wastepaper container?”, the specifics somehow of great importance here.

I squelched the question, “are you going out there and beat it up?” and merely said, “yes.”

He got up. I tried to get as comfy as possible. A few minutes later, I heard him coming into the room.

“Still awake?” he whispered.

“Yes.”

He turned on the light, and stood there with an ice pack. He got one of the decorative bed pillows and laid it in place with the ice, and fixed my foot upon said pillow. “The internet said to keep it elevated and iced to prevent swelling.” he advised as he climbed back into bed.

“Thank you dear, it’s really not hurting.”

Which would all not be so terrible were it not for the fact that the other foot sports something we have called a stone bruise, which has lasted for about three weeks on my heel. I have tried to ignore it and “walk it off” but it hovers between getting much better, and then being horribly painful and hobbling. That leaves me with no good feet.

With flip-flops, and my toe taped in friendly buddy camaraderie with the bigger middle toe, there is just enough padding to my bruised heel foot to get around. Oh and with a healthy dose of some prescription ibuprofen given to me by the dentist to assuage sore gums from my teeth cleaning last week.

Diego, I might add, is bummed.

Meanwhile. . . . .

Drone-WarfareThis kinda sums up my concerns about drones.

Whether for surveillance or for attack, they pose a serious intrusion on our lives. Nobody thinks it wrong that they are snooping at the border, because we don’t want “them” coming across.

Probably few in America would object if they patrolled in high drug trafficking areas within some of our cities, because we want “them” stopped.

How many other areas are we prepared to accept drones as a part of modern law enforcement?

How many are prepared to have them used in a more aggressive form?

There is an old Star Trek wherein constant war between two planets resulted in an agreement that each side could “score” computer attacks, and “casualties” would be generated. People would then march dutifully to disintegration chambers. Thus each country could preserve its infrastructure and life could go on. This had gone on for five hundred years.

Proof that what we get too far from, we find more palatable. Making war nice and easy and unmessy, has unintended consequences.

President-Skeet-Shooter It was predictable.

We knew they would.

They can’t help it.

They hate with a viciousness and wild fresh-meat smell that is scary, funny, and as I said, oh so predictable.

They claimed we would never see a picture because he never had shot skeet, or as one Blazey Boob put it, “I have shot lots of skeets and he ain’t shooting any skeets that I ever seen.” Yes skeets indeed.

When they produced the picture, if was of course, doctored, like his birth certificate, his college transcripts, his law license, and well, his “I’m a human being” card.

He kills over three thousand Muslims with drones, and is called a card-carrying member of the Muslim Brotherhood, intend on bringing Sharia law to Merika.

Go figure. They are nuts. It shows.

Anchors-AweighOn the other hand, watching the GOP engage in a mmmm, Tea People taste good, feeding frenzy is most entertaining.

I mean you go to bed at night a card-carrying conservative Republican, and wake up the next morning an RINO, to be heaped on the pile of derision by the reactionary right-wing. NOT CRAZY ENOUGH ARE YOU screams Yoda.

Some don’t think the Tea Bibbers have the stomach for a long fight against rational Repubs who just want to win a damn election. Some don’t think they have the numbers or will to start their own third party and linger in the basement with Ralph and the other groups that vie for a place on the ballot. HERE WE ARE ↓ IN THE BASEMENT. I think remnants of the old Communist Party still dust off the buttons every four years and give it go for the Bolshevik cause.

Rush and the folks at Foxy Noise are in a tither, not knowing what to do, while Karl insists that if you will just give him more money, he will use it and WIN this time. He promises. Rush has made a living off of cheating and double-dealing all his miserable life. He’s so very prepared to continue.

Meanwhile the Tea bibbers no longer have a clue what they were about in the beginning. It had something to do about banks they think, though what it was, nobody recalls. They look down and find a KJV bible in one hand and an AK-a5 in the other, and look longingly at the Bud on the table. I may not have two good feet at the moment, but they need another hand immediately. The Bud eases the cognitive dissonance of what is in their hands.

Maher-TroubleDonald is suing.

You see, Bill said that he was the spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan.

Donald whipped out his birth certificate to prove him wrong.

Bill, smilingly suggests that old Hair-do misses the point.

Donald wants Bill to donate some money to charity.

Bill smiles.

Donald sues.

Donald has nothing to do.

All those Apprentices run his business.

He can’t spend all day trying on toupees.

He can’t spend all day looking up all the words that people call him, that would take forever. And besides, things like Asshat aren’t even in the dictionary yet. But the word has been submitted to the Oxford English Dictionary committee with his picture.

Have a glorious day, and don’t stub your toe. Because I will laugh if you do. Really i will. Misery loves company.

The Legacy of Race

Jr., Martin Luther King, Obama, racism

mlk-prayingIt is a stunning bit of serendipity that the President’s second Inaugural falls on this day we celebrate as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. It gives me pause to reflect upon the legacy of Dr. King, and how far we have traveled, and how far, sadly we still have to go.

Because our President is African-American, it is almost inevitable that the rabid minority who detest him with a fervor that reaches to at or near real hatred, are quick to point out (almost always unasked of course) that they are not racists. But they also go further, attempting in some drug-induced phantasmagoria to capture Dr. King as their own. They quote with self-satisfaction two facts: one, that Dr. King was after all, one of them, a Republican, and second they quote from his “I Have a Dream” speech, that they “judge a person by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.”

To them, this settles the question. If anyone pursues the issue further, they are “race baiting” or “playing the race card”, trying to blame their circumstances not on their own limitations, but rather on a non-existent barrier that prevents them from reaching their goal.

Race still matters in America. No matter how politically correct we are, or how politically correct we witness others being, the ugly face of racism seethes just below the surface. My own father, a man as racist as any could be, became politically correct, dropping the “N” word from his speech, but he could snarl out the word “black” with the same venomous disgust as the other word. There was no mistaking his true views.

History is the long and tragic story of the fact that privileged groups seldom give up their privileges voluntarily. Individuals may see the moral light and voluntarily give up their unjust posture; but as Reinhold Niebuhr has reminded us, groups are more immoral than individuals. (MLK Letter from Birmingham Jail)

Race matters when those on the extreme Right refuse to legitimize the present office holder of the Presidency. Race matters when posters are painted of the Commander-in-Chief as a African Voodoo artist. Race matters when the emphasis is placed on Mr. Obama’s middle name. Race matters when the only African-Americans deemed acceptable are those who uphold the views of the Right that “everyone” now has an equal chance. Race matters when the majority of black Americans are “victims” of the Plantation Democrats, unable apparently to think for themselves, but need the Right to explain to them that “handouts” aren’t real progress.

When Planned Parenthood is attacked as a genocide upon the black race, rather than what it is, an organization that provides the only health care available to millions of women of color and otherwise, race matters.

Race matters when undocumented workers who pay taxes, and work for low wages doing the jobs that most white folks won’t do, raising their families to be hardworking, and law-abiding citizens, are called “Illegals”. When we seek to strip citizenship from their children because they are “anchor babies”, racism is dripping from our lips.

Race matters when our sisters living within the reservations still can be assaulted by non-Native men and get no justice.

Race matters in this country and we refuse to see it and deny it at our peril. For racial hatred is deadly, it eats at the fabric of society and destroys it from within. It keeps us from embracing each other with full acceptance, but mires us in the mud of distrust and suspicion.

We are not a society that is free of racism, any more than we are free of sexism, any more than we are free of our own versions of what is moral and what is not. We are not tolerant about many things, and there are those who say that to be tolerant is  to be accepting of that which we know to be wrong merely to get along. That is not true. To be tolerant is to recognize that we, each of us, do not have a corner on morality. Our version is not THE version necessarily. Being tolerant is being open to the possibility that there are other ways, ways better than ours. For the religious, it means we are open to the work of the Spirit to enlarge our world and to our understanding of Right.

Martin Luther King Jr., was not a Republican because he believed in the tenets of the Republican party, surely not as it exists today. He is not yours, Tea party adherents. He was a Republican because that was his only choice given the Dixiecrat Democrats, who were thoroughly opposed to civil rights for black people.

Martin Luther King Jr., was not in favor of simply having an even playing field, which you Tea party adherents claim. Such doesn’t exist in the first place. And secondly Dr. King spoke often about the inequality of wealth in this country and its dangers. In fact he wondered whether capitalism was a viable economic model if it resulted in such inequality and poverty at the bottom of the pyramid of society.

Martin Luther King Jr., died while engaged in support of sanitation workers in Memphis. He supported unions and knew that they were the only viable means of securing fair wages and safe working conditions for all workers.

Look within yourselves. We must each look within ourselves. Racism is insidious. Find it. Eradicate it.

Shame on YOU Cardinal Dolan

Cardinal Dolan, Election 2012, Obama, religion

As I understand it, Cardinal Dolan was invited to give the benediction at the RNC. The DNC followed suit, seeing no other reasonable way to go. Dolan as you may know has been the vociferous opponent of any type of insurance coverage for birth control, even when not paid for by Catholic based institutions.

Now a benediction is a prayer bestowing a blessing on the assemblage. It is not an uncommon thing to have certainly. It is fairly rare to have someone from out-of-town to vie for the job. While I can’t confirm this scenario, I heard last night that Dolan first offered to give the benediction, was rebuffed by the Democrats, who then invited him after he accepted the RNC offer.

Now you might think that he gave the same benediction? NO. Though they resembled each other to a great extent, there were some subtle and not so subtle changes that made his remarks anything but the “apolitical, non-partisan” statement that he claimed.

You can read both benedictions here.

Basically Dolan changed “those yet to be born” to “those waiting to be born . . .[and]that they be welcomed and protected.” This to apparently chastise the Democrats for their pro-choice stance on the issue of abortion.

Dolan then went on in the RNC version to encourage “respecting the laws of nature and nature’s God, and not seek to replace it with idols of our own making.” In the DNC version he added, “Empower us with your grace so that we might resist the temptation to replace the moral law with idols of our own making, or to remake those institutions you have given us for the nurturing of life and community.” This was a direct snipe at the DNC position on marriage equality.

President Obama and VP Biden were blessed by name on in the DNC version, while Mr. Romney and Ryan were blessed by name in both.

So much for being non-partisan. The perhaps saving grace, is that at least MSNBC did not even show the benediction but went straight to analysis. It seems that may have been true for just about everyone but Foxy Noise who showed it in full.

It is shameful in any case, whether heard or not, that a Cardinal would act in such a totally partisan way before a national audience.

Ð

It hardly seems worth saying. He was magnificent as we expected he would be. And frankly so was Joe Biden. Both speeches were thrilling, and uplifting. What the President and the other speakers managed to do, is to change the dynamics of the election. Basically it comes down to: we know what we are doing, and they haven’t got a clue what is wrong or how to fix it. Why this man still thinks that Russia is our worst enemy. This man goes on a tour of Europe and manages to insult our best friend. Instead of a referendum on the President, it is now a referendum on an out-of-touch venture capitalist and a Ayn Randian ideologue who would destroy the most vulnerable among us.

It’s about CITIZENSHIP–with the benefits of life in America come responsibilities. I almost expected him to recall the refrain: ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. Really that’s what he meant.

Ð

Oh Gosh, Sistah Sarah is all up in a tither. I mean John Kerry mentioned her name. I mean wow. I mean, dang girl, he mentioned your NAME. Not in a good way though, which is why your panties are all twisted up in yer huntin’ pants. Remember Sarah you said, that you were no Jenny-come-lately to foreign policy, cuz you could see Russia from your front porch. Now later, you embellished that to what you “really” meant which may or may not have been what you said, but you said it. And Senator Kerry did laugh and remind us and suggest that all Willard knows about Russia he learned from Rocky IV.

It was a good line. Just admit it and move on girl. Don’t be so nasty. It will amount to nothing. Cuz you amounted to nothing.

In case you are curious:

“How does he even know my name? I mean aren’t these guys supposed to be these big wig elites who don’t waste their time on the little people like me — me representing the average American who, yeah I did say in Alaska you can see Russia from our land base and I was making the point that we are strategically located on the globe and when it comes to transportation corridors and resources that are shared and fought over [in] Alaska and I as the governor had known what I was doing in dealing with some international issues that had to do with our resources that could help secure the nation.”

Word salad for the day served!

Ð

And with that, have a good one. It’s Friday after all, day of contemplated debauchery.

And the Lion Roared

He may indeed be gone (but then again, maybe not) but surely he is not forgotten. Last night the Old Lion raised his head once more and roared out his approval of Barack Obama, and did one of the greatest slap downs of Mitt Romney ever witnessed.

The transcript of their debate in ’94 revealed this gem:

Romney: I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years, we should sustain and support it, and I sustain and support that law and the right of a woman to make that choice.

Kennedy: On the question of the choice issue, I have supported Roe v. Wade, I am pro-choice. My opponent is multiple choice. … When, Mr. Romney, are you going to tell the people of Massachusetts which health care program you favor?

Romney: I have a plan, I have a position paper on health care, I’m happy to show it to you, senator, any time you like.

Kennedy: Mr. Romney, it isn’t a question of showing me your paper, it’s a question of showing all of the people in here that are watching the program this paper. They ought to have an opportunity to know.

Romney: I think it’s a wonderful idea to take it through piece by piece …

Kennedy: That’s what you have to do as a legislator.

Romney: I understand — I understand.

Of course, today the GOP is howling–“my God, the lowliness of using a dead guy,” they moan. Yeah remembered a great man and all that he did for his country and we reminded ourselves that he dealt with the likes of the Willard many years before. It was classic!

Willard attempted to inform us that the greatest day in our life was the day we voted for Barack Obama. Everything since then has been down hill. A mother with a sick child set Willard straight.

Stacy Linn said this:

“Governor Romney says people like me were most excited about President Obama the day we voted for him. But that’s not true. Not even close. For me, there was the day the Affordable Care Act passed, and I no longer had to worry about getting Zoe the care she needed. There was a day the letter arrived from the insurance company saying our daughter’s lifetime cap had been lifted. There was the day the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare… And like so many moms with sick kids, I shed tears.”

Speaker after speaker applauded women, women’s rights, gay rights, and the rights of workers. They celebrated hard work and the ability to rise up to the middle class. Mostly they applauded fairness. Lilly Ledbetter spoke and wowed the audience with her first hand account of what the corporate world and the US Supreme Court did to her and how Obama made sure that it would not happen again.

Julius Castro, the Mayor of San Antonio, spoke with deep feeling about his grandmother, who came here as an orphan, speaking no English, and how through her hard work and her daughters, the twin grandsons went to Stanford and then on to Harvard.

And then our beautiful and brilliant First Lady, Michelle Obama took to the stage and simply brought the house down. With anecdotes of their lives together and her initial fears that the White House would impact her girls in a negative way, and change her husband, she uttered one of the most memorable lines

Being President doesn’t change you, it reveals who you really are.

And what is revealed in President Obama is a man who cares deeply about people, who relates personally to the struggles of all of us. Without ever mentioning his name, Mrs. Obama destroyed Mitt Romney.

If you wish to watch the entire tribute to Ted Kennedy, please watch:

It truly was moving.

You can watch all of Michelle Obama’s speech (30 min or so) as well.

We’ve talked a lot here about the racism that seems inherent in much of the opposition to the President. It includes the overt racism expressed in placards carried by Tea People, the use of code words and phrases, the never-ending attempt to challenge his place of birth, the claims that he is “not American” in the sense that “we” are, and the general attempt to paint him as “other.”

No finer piece of work on the subject can be Atlantic had that this article written in The Atlantic by senior editor, Ta-Nihisi Coates, entitled Fear of a Black President. I think you would do well to read it.

◊

Unless I am slightly daft (hey, don’t start now), The Economist would be what I would term a conservative magazine. It’s about Bizness after all, and business is mostly conservative.

Well, a more scathing article could not be found about our boy Willard. I mean they say that at this point they cannot support him, mostly because they have no clue what he believes in, and moreover they find many of his foreign policy statements actually dangerous.

It’s quite a indictment of the flip-flopping, principle-less Bain businessman who claims he can run an economy when he apparently can’t run a campaign.

◊

If you been around here, you know I ain’t no fan of Rinsed Penis, Rancid Penis, or as his  momma calls him Reince. Chris Matthews took him to the woodshed about Willard’s use of the race card, naming the “birther” joke and his demonstrably untrue claims that Obama is removing work requirements for welfare recipients. You can watch the video of that confrontation on Morning Joe, here.

Now, I’ll admit that Chris goes over the top at times, and may have here, but when Penis gets his chance he proves the case when he accuses Obama’s stimulus and health care packages as things he “gets from Europe.” Rinsed was unable to see that he again as trying to paint the President as something “other” than American.

Worse, Willard himself has doubled down on his welfare work requirements claims, now stating outright that the President did this to “play to his base” apparently meaning that the President’s natural constituency are those who are on welfare. Now exactly who is playing to their base? And what is that base but the worst possible American traits of racism coupled with a lack of any sense of community spirit?

◊

Gawker has gotten ahold of nearly a thousand pages of Romney family finances. Apparently it shows how the family money was placed in numerous off shore accounts, and used a variety of equity swaps, all to avoid paying taxes. Read the originals at Gawker or get the Grio’s take on the mess here.

◊

Since the big old flap that Todd Akin started, the dick-in-mouth disease of male Republicans continue. Paulie claimed that rape was “just a method of conception” to his position that abortion is wrong in EVERY situation. And now the Virginia Governor, and one time VP wannabe, Bob McDonnell says that the GOP platform that echos Paulie’s position is just a “detail”.

◊

Oh those pesky videos. If you are like me, and still trying to wrap your head around why Romneycare is super and “Obamacare” is not, well here’s another noodle for your spaghetti dinner.

It turns out that in 2008 when Willard was running for the Presidency, he actually was asked if he wanted to expand his Romney care to the nation and whether he really wanted all Americans covered by a national health care plan.

Yes he was asked, and he answered! This was back in the day when Willard answered questions with actual answers that related to the question. If you don’t believe me, well watch the video which suggests that Willard was all for these things but 4 years ago. Alas, the compulsion to be president at all costs does much to change the mind of a man with no principles.

Well, that’s it for today. Seems I’ve mastered the embedded YouTube at last. So the sky’s the limit now kiddies. Soon, I’ll embed odors in the post and then sweet kisses from puppies! lol

Take care.

I’m Sooooo Behind

Yes I am. I get up at 6 a.m. and can’t seem to ever get a chance to sit down until near noon. And then I am POOPED. For a while at least. Let me see, what did we do this week? Well, I walked my requisite 14 miles. I water aerobic’d for two hours.  I bought a couple of lamps. We got our window treatments installed and we love them. The Contrarian bought his own car and has it all titled and licensed. I went to the farmer’s market and bought a lot of veggies and made a kick-ass Gazpacho for dinner–to be featured soon at “What’s on the Stove.” Oh, and I am watching the Olympics. Phew.

Speaking of which—

Willard is busy making a butt-hole of himself in London. Technically, I think he has left already–helped no doubt by the shaft shoved up his bunghole by the British people.

Things are bad when people say you are worse than Sarah Palin. No class, no personality, no charm, no sincerity. That about sums up what they think of him.

On now to Jerusalem where he gets to meet his “old friend” Bibi, who we understand gave an interview saying he would agree that he and Romney “knew each other” sort of. Not quite the glowing palsy-walsy that Romney alluded to in his claims to “call Bibi” and offer his “help” on a regular basis.

Plenty of Republicans are wondering just why this trip was undertaken. Word we here is that Willard is fond of over-ruling his advisers somewhat regularly. I guess that is working for him, as he sees it.

Speakin’ of which.

Oh would it ever be nice to have an Olympic games free of controversy, such as the ages of the girls competing in gymnastics, doping controversies, and especially the daily totals of which country leads in the medal count.

Why would any one care? Isn’t it about excellence and the individual or team?

And let’s forget the pros who suddenly become amateurs in order to attain another notch in their celebrity memory book. While I adore tennis, I have no interest in watching pros play other players of lesser ability just for the sake of recognizing a sport. Which has always been my beef with basketball and ice hockey etc.

I’m not sure how you feel about it, but I for one think Penn St. got exactly what it deserved. Certainly the students there don’t deserve this, but apparently the only way to convince their “adult supervisors” how to behave, is to punish everyone.

I believe Paterno got what he deserved too, although he is not here to accept his punishment. Amazing how someone is willing to give up what would otherwise be a stellar life history all in the name of protecting the good ‘ol boys, and the football program. It ended up doing neither, and ruined many a reputation at the same time.

I guess what burns me up about all his business, is that quite frankly the MSM has again fallen down on the job. This hatchet job of selective editing to make it appear that the President said something very different from what he actually said should be called what it is–blatant lying.

And Fox was worse yet by “re-editing” it to show you exactly what the President said, and then again, making it what it was not.

Why can’t they just show the footage as given and juxtapose that with Willard’s lie? I mean are those the facts or not? Just the facts. It’s all I ask.

We were sad to hear of the passing of Sally Ride.

As a woman, we recognize that she blazed a new trail and gave home and dreams to millions of young girls. As a young girl myself, a dozen of more interesting professions were off-limits to me. Because of women like Ms. Ride, that is no longer true.

I recognize that given the propensity for huge numbers of companies to be sympathetic to Republican goals, that it is not always easy to boycott them to make your voice heard.

But this one seems a no brainer. After all, there are plenty of other chicken fast food places.

And while the extreme right screeches that it is an outrage for Starbucks and Amazon to donate money to causes that are “leftist” they screech just as loudly that the left has no business punishing a company for exercising its free speech rights. Well, arguably it’s all wrong since the employees may well not agree with management, but if it’s good for one side, surely it must be for the other.

I’ve never seen a chick-fil-A establishment frankly, but I surely wouldn’t eat at one either. There is KFC, Popeye’s and Church’s just for starters.

I dunno about you, but it’s a happy day for me. I hope it is for you too!
