Chuck Hagel, GOP, Neo-cons, Politics, teabaggers, Ted Cruz

chuck_hagelIt appears that the President will be placing Chuck Hagel’s name up for nomination as the next Secretary of Defense.

Now, I’ve been burned once or twice by making knee-jerk reactions to who is on board and who isn’t. Pretty much I conclude that if Lindsey Graham is against something, I am pretty much for it. Nobody is kissing more ultra-conservative butt these days than Lindsey who is up for re-election in 2014. It explains his half-hysterical response to all things Obama certainly.

I also tend to trust my President on most things. He has proven himself to be a wily politician and usually has a good reason for what he does. It is not always apparent at the beginning, but in the end, his decisions are more right than wrong.

So, I’m inclined to support the nomination of Mr. Hagel, even though on most any other issue but foreign policy, we are in pretty clear disagreement.

And it is just not the likes of silly Lindsey that convinces me either. Hagel is despised by the neo-con community largely based on his pretty quick spin around on the Iraq war. Although he was initially for it, claiming that he believed the Bush folks that a war would be the LAST resort after ALL diplomatic avenues had been traveled, he was against the so-called “surge” and began holding the Administration’s feet to the fire.

And it’s really hard for me to be against anybody the neo-cons are against because I find them rather blood-thirsty in their desire to remold the entire world to suit their vision of American’s playground. And of course, a whole lot of these folks have never pulled on a combat boot either. Hagel, I believe loathes war and thinks that it is the very last choice when all other methods have failed. He’s a believer in talking with as opposed to talking to adversaries.

But don’t take my word for it. There is an excellent story about Hagel that was written in 2007 when some thought Hagel was pondering a run for President as an Independent. It documents he feelings about Vietnam, how that ultimately shaped his political philosophy and how he now stands in line with people like Colin Powell, Zbigniew Brzezinski and others who would be termed moderate and internationalist in their outlook.

In my view Republicans continue to pick the wrong fights. If one recalls, it has been, until recently, the general rule that  a president gets his choices for cabinet positions without little or no opposition. After all, he’s the one who as to work with the cabinet and he has the right to have people he can work with and feels comfortable with. Of my importance is the fact that cabinet members don’t initiate policy, they carry it out. So the nominee’s opinions on matters of policy are not particularly important. The fact of the matter is, the Democrats have engaged in some of this stuff too, but I would argue, not nearly to the extent that the GOP does now. They view every nomination as a chance for them to stick it to Obama.

«

Well, it is Texas after all. Ted CruzNewly elected Texas Senator, Ted Cruz, apparently didn’t get the memo that new folks should keep their mouths zipped most of the time and LISTEN.

He’s already babbling about things he has almost no experience with.

For instance, he’s ready to “shut the government down” when the time comes to debate AGAIN about taxes and spending cuts. He was probably in junior high when the GOP pulled it before, and it worked then, sooooo, why not this time?

Oh I dunno Theodore, maybe because we are just inches away from a terrible recession and trying VERY DAMN HARD not to fall back into that black hole.

He of course is of the Tea People persuasion and says, “what Washington doesn’t need is more compromise.” Yeah Theodore, that’s how government should work–by hostage taking minorities forcing the majority to go along with harebrained ill-thought out ( what am I talking about–thought out–they can’t think!) schemes that threaten the good of the country.

Theodore also has an opinion on Chuck Hagel–he will make war with Iran almost certain. And I thought Gohmert cornered the market on stupid in Texas. And then there is Perry. Is there something wrong with the water in the Rio Grande? Somebody ought to test that stuff for stupid.

«

Proving there is more than enough stupid to go around, an assemblyman in Virginia is introducing more stringent voter ID requirements in that state. The standard as Mark Cole understands it is this:

If Obama can win the state, then the state’s voter ID requirements are too lax.

Now I like a man who says what he means. Translation: Republicans can win in states where they cheat people out of voting. Yes, and so can Bactrian camels. I know Mark, that went right over your head didn’t it?

«

You know of the Heritage foundation? New toy box for crazy Jim DeMitt? Well he just got himself a new sandbox playmate, one David Addington. I hadn’t heard this before, but apparently Paul Krugman coined the phrase “wingnut welfare” for the concept that all the idiots who failed so miserably in the Bush Administration, are “taken care of” when they ooze away in shame for their public service behavior.

This explains Addington’s new job surely. Addington, you remember worked for Dick “the dick” Cheney during the Bush years and was instrumental in defining the broad ranging powers that Bush grabbed as Presidential prerogatives. Once the touter of extra legal powers for the president, in an ironic twist (and the GOP is all about irony ain’t it?), Addington will investigate the degree to which President Obama may have overstepped his presidential authority.

Yes you read that right. You don’t have to reread it. Trust me. These folks are crazy.

The next time some nitwit masquerading as a person tries to tell you that they watch Faux News to get the “fair and balanced” take on the news, remind them that of course Faux Crap is anything but fair. Of course, we knew that, but this chart lays it out clearly. I’m guessing they have a favorite here, and are doing their best to help.

Here in New Mexico, we are good and blue. Nobody came to campaign here because Obama has this state in one of his “safe” columns. Yet, all week long, we have been subjected to obnoxious and untrue Crossroads and Americans for Prosperity negative Obama ads. Since it will change absolutely nothing, you have to ask yourself why.

My only answer is that they are so flush with cash they can afford to throw it away. It’s a bit like the Koch brothers standing out in front of my house and burning a barrel of thousand dollar bills, just cuz, you know, they can. It’s that meaningless to them. It’s insulting. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t vote for their candidate if you offered me the money instead.

Our polling place was busy this morning when we arrived. A steady stream  of people were coming and going and the line was only about four minutes. Clear and concise instructions were posted in English and Spanish. When we deposited our ballots in the counter, we were told to wait and make sure that the counter ticked up one. Everything was well run. A police cruiser was parked outside, a few people were carrying “vote for” signs at the entrance. No harassment. I wish every were as lucky.

I spent a few minutes yesterday afternoon at Blaze. They have a fine crop of nuts there. They are of course sure this will be a Romney landslide because they drank the kool-aid and believe all the polls are underrepresenting Republicans. They are very worried that Obama will just undue the entire republic in the time from election to the swearing-in. They want to know what the legal provisions are to tie the black man up until he can be ushered out of the WHITE house, and hopefully into jail stripes. I got a good chuckle. If you want to know what Alzheimer’s looks like, do tune in and read a few comments.

The pundits for the most part are “journalists” in search of a story. They can’t bear to tell the truth, that the polls are pretty clear how this should go. They keep up the mantra of “razor-thin” margin because gosh darn it, that’s what they want. If you were to ask them their favorite election, they would surely say 2000 when it went on for days and weeks, and they were able to be on air endlessly speculating on what would sooner or later be obvious.

Glenn Beck is still ranting on radio. His latest barrage of garbage comes on election eve:

If you look at history through a biblical world view, the last step before a nation is completely destroyed is they drive the righteous from among them. If this isn’t a sign of a group of people that will drive the righteous from among them, and that’s the last step before God’s wrath comes, I fear for our country and it is – it cannot be overstated, it cannot be called paranoid … If you are a God‑fearing person, hear me. Last call, America. Last call. Because the righteous will be driven from among them.

Sorry Glenn, that is paranoid. So you think that Barack Obama is the last straw in our downward spiral to evil? Nothing like the decimation of an entire people almost to extinction qualifies? Or the ownership of another group of people who required a war to end? Not that either huh? No, it took Obamacare to really piss off God. Sure Glenn, I do see now.

So we wait. Let’s hope we aren’t still up at midnight Mountain time.

You Should Be Scared Now

Your intrepid writer (that would be me) is going into the darkness once again in an attempt to get inside the head of the average, leaning Romney, but feeling slightly uncomfortable. The realm of the few undecided who are fairly high information types. So the five of you, listen up.

I have a safety rope attached, so if I tug twice, pull you swabbies for all you are worth. This ain’t no aircraft carrier you know.

Okay, so Romney is no Georgie Bushkins. I mean in what drives this man. Georgie was the screw-up in the family Bush and decided that bein’ Prez would be a good way to show old Dad and Babs that he was “somebody.” Romney is no Dubya, in that sense.

No, I read Romney as driven by his Mormonism. A recall a younger man talking about coming back from mission and feeling as he claims most of them do, “so anxious to get on with making their mark in the world.” It’s a fundamental stand of the Mormon Church as I understand it, to take the gifts given and achieve for the glory of God, (and the church).

Now, George Romney came up from nothing and became not only the CEO of a major car company, but a two-term Governor if Michigan, and failed at running for President. Willard starts up three floors. Becoming a CEO of a car company is no real accomplishment, so he switched to venture capitalism, where he certainly made his mark. But being even Governor would not measure up, so I believe he set his sights on the Presidency while still a very young man.

This is not to prove anything to anyone else, it is to PROVE TO HIMSELF that he has achieved what he should. All his efforts for decades have been setting up that scenario. The last two years as Governor of Massachusetts was largely spent out of state setting up his political framework.

That is the backdrop.

Now consider yourself an average hardworking working class stiff who isn’t doing all that well. You’ve been treading water for a long time, just getting by. You figure you’re entitled to better. You aren’t much of an ideologue. You don’t consider yourself a racist, a sexist, or unfeeling when it comes to the needy. You’re more inclined to live and let live and so some of Romney’s rhetoric on social issues makes you uncomfortable.

But, you think, “hey, he is a successful businessman, and if business is happy, maybe they will start ramping up their companies, hiring and raising wages. That’s good for me. Romney probably can do that even though I know he is basically an opportunist. Business will love him being president, and that should be good for me. I don’t feel real good about how he might screw the less fortunate, but hey we all have to sacrifice. If this makes our economy better for all of us in the end, we just gotta bite the bullet. And besides, the Democrats won’t just lay down on this social stuff. They’ll fight him.”

So you are leaning toward the Willard, even though you know he changes his mind about most things, and you don’t really have a clue where he really stands on much of anything.

Now bring in the foreign policy debate.

Romney has undeniably rattled the sabre for months, if not years, when it comes to foreign policy. We have heard about the President being an apologist, (code for not being a real American), about American Exceptionalism, about American superiority and how we are the leader of the world. We have heard all about not being tough enough on Russia, Iran, Syria, and China  and that we have not glued ourselves sufficiently tight to Israel. We have heard about leaving Iraq too soon, and not setting deadlines for withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Most all of this has come from his foreign policy advisors who are basically a collection of Bushites. Fully 18 or 24 of his advisors are old Bush boys. They are essentially neo-cons and war hawks who have their very own agenda (which they pushed Bush into adopting), and how want to return to that through Romney.

In the debate, Romney did not say any of the things he’s been parroting for months about various aspects of foreign policy. Instead, he pivoted to the hard middle, and tried to present himself as a “man of peace” who would leave no stone unturned to avoid war anywhere in the world. He agreed with Obama at nearly every turn. He did what he did in the first debate, he pretended not to know anything about the policies he had been pushing for years.

In a stunning reversal, he showed once again that he will say anything–literally anything–to get a vote.

Why does this matter given that this is nothing new?

It shows that he is, like Palin, supremely uninterested in foreign affairs. I heard in passing that a couple of his aides admit that he doesn’t read the daily foreign policy briefings. He had memorized a whole set of “policies” for the world, none of which he cares about. When it became prudent to help secure the “women’s vote” (presumably more pacifist), to tack to the middle and seem not threatening, he did so.

He doesn’t respect the electorate. But that is not the crime. The crime is that he does not care about the world, insofar as it has nothing to do with becoming President. Being President is ALL that matters. And if he becomes President, he will continue not carrying, and the same neocons and war hawks will be making the decisions.

The decisions they make will invariably, I believe, lead us into another war. The neocons desire American control in the Middle East and those reasons have zero to do with stability there other that the stability required to get their hands on the oil. That is their goal. They live in a weird world of American superiority and control over the entire globe. Where we can force everyone to dance to our tune because we can and will enforce our will on them.

A vote for Romney is a vote for shadow government who will “do the foreign policy” while Willard makes life more comfortable for the rich, who he truly believes are the reason why America is what it is. The rest of us?

Somebody’s got to carry the rifles. It ain’t gonna be his sons and grandkids–they go on “mission” instead. It’s your kids who will be the fodder in the next war machine.

So consider that when you vote. Please, THINK.

Chuck Norris Said. . .

Chuck Norris, GOP, Islamophobia, Neo-cons, right wing, Sharia law

If you are like me, you probably have little or no interest in how that sentence ends. I mean, Chuck Norris? A martial arts practitioner whom Hollywood places in rock ’em sock ’em movies where the “acting” is tangential to the violence.

Oh, I had heard or at least on one occasion seen that he had attached himself to the McCain/Palin campaign which I guess served to bring out 5-13 extra people at a rally or something.

Turns out old Chuckie is a busy dude in the right-wing insanosphere. He jumped on the birther bus early on, and, well, it’s a downward spiral after that. He is by all accounts a “devout” Christian, which means essential he’s a wackadoodle fundamentalist.

Well, the reason he came across my radar is that he now writes a column  for WorldNetDaily, one of the most awful rags dedicated to “Christian” beliefs I’ve ever seen. Alan Keyes is a featured writer for them as well, and they regularly (daily) pontificate about Obama being the right hand man of Satan.

Although a poor student in his school career (high school), it seems Mr. Norris has become an expert on Sharia law (it’s coming to a town near you, he warns) and he has single-handedly destroyed the theory of evolution.

He also ain’t a fan of global warming, being as it’s just a facade to introduce a “new world order” of which the Christianist movement is deathly afraid.

A bastion of conservatism no less august than Forbes, pokes fun at Chuck’s cry that the progressive indoctrination educational system is driving students out of the system at an alarming rate. Except it’s not alarming at all.

All this adds up to nothing of any importance. Norris joins a long list of GOPer’s who have left their brains in the crapper and now view the world through kaleidoscope eyes.

But it is telling when even your own side starts to shake their head in disgust. All this craziness of course plays well to the base which is not noted for its command of english, spelling, or critical thinking (and they have the lack of diplomas to prove it). Yet buffoonery of this nature serves to alienate the real people who the GOP needs to both impress and embrace–the independent voter. The neo-cons seemed to have grasped this. Unable to control these freaks, they are now abandoning them much as Peter did after Jesus’ arrest–“me? I never knew the man” they shout.

Sarah and Michele and Newt, Donald, Mikey, all are starting to be shunned by an evil, but still frighteningly sane group that has much bigger fish to fry than birtherism and creationistic claptrap. They truly do want to dominate the world via American exceptionalism, and when the teabagger movement and it’s cartoon character “leaders” are no longer of use, you can be sure it will be “cut bait” and the yachts will move elsewhere.

Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah, You Go Girl

Dick Cheney, Election 2012, GOP, Neo-cons, Sarah Palin, teabaggers

Before we start, just remember this post come 2012, and if things go as I say, I’d say I was due payment (gold is acceptable) as a profound pundit. K, so remember that.

I’ve not posted a good deal about Sarah (that woman is an idiot) Palin lately. A few days ago, we (I love the royal we, don’t you?) reported on a CBS poll that had her favorables at an exciting 22%. That’s pretty sucky.

It’s hard to know exactly where that comes from, there is so much to draw on. Could it be that grating whiny voice? or the blatant  attempt to skirt the truth about important things and things of no importance? Her mangling of the English language? Her total reliance on sexy phrases that mean NOTHING? You pick.

Cases in point–Sarah has resurrected her “death panel” diatribe of late. Everyone knows it’s nonsense, but she relies on a cadre of know-nothings and they don’t know, so it works for her tiny band of sillies.  And just the other day, in Alabama I believe, she made this lovely turn of truth: Sarah claims she was talkin’ to Bristol, and she up and said, “Gee Bristol, how ’bout Dad and I packin’ the kids into the motor home and driving down there to the show and seeing you dance? And ya know what? We did.”

Except that the DWTS studio is some 3300+ miles away, and she was spotted in Wasilla two days before the show, and she was also seen at the airport coming into LA. But it sounds good doncha think? Being a regular mom, like the folks? That’s our Sarah.

Now, much ado has been made about whether Sarah will run in 2012 or not. I was initially agin’ the idea, thinking her greed for the good life would way overcome her greed for the limelight. And don’t mistake limelight for power. Sarah gets bored with actually doin’ the job, but she likes the perks–AirForce 1, the copter, the WH, the limos. Seductive. The actual mounds of reading? Not so much.

But like I said, that limelight stuff is C-duc-Tive. The crowds of fawning sweats-wearing men and women of Merika have been soooo well, fawning. I mean, it can turn a girl’s head ya know. And after she has had a 4-year term, if she can manage not to quit after two, why there will be more books, and more speechifying tours, and more idiotic candidates to back to further ruin the GOP.

So I can see why she might go for it. In fact I think she will, figuring that that 22% favorable is merely a concoction of the lamestream media and all. Her Rasmussen folks tell her different, as well as all the sycophants who hope to ride the gravy train on to another exciting adventure.

What of the GOP? Now that’s where my crystal ball really heats up.

One would think that they would find the idea abhorrent. If the recent Bloomberg poll is correct, Obama will beat her by a 16-point margin. But, there is a method to my madness.

I think that that is what some in the GOP are banking on.

Follow along now.

What has Sarah done so far?

She has managed to get nominated a whole bunch of lunatics, most of which cannot be elected, even when the general voting population really doesn’t like the Democratic opponent. This has caused all sorts of troubles to the GOP, including having them argue among themselves whether they will back, support, or fund such delights as Christine “the witch” O’Donnell and Sharron, “we might have to get our guns” Angle. Joe Miller wants to kill Social security, unemployment benefits, and medicare and Medicaid. These are not winning tactics.

The GOP knows this, but attempts to distance themselves from Sarah’s band of angry only engenders threats that they will can their sorry butts as well. So what to do?

Let, nay, encourage the Palinator to run in 2012, knowing full well she will be chewed up and spit out. This accomplishes a couple of things. First, it purges the Wasilla wacko from the ranks of power in the party. She’s toast, she’s so yesterday. She can still tool around the country speaking to smaller and smaller groups of women and men who still have the hots for her, and nobody will care.

Second, perhaps a few of the down-ticketed nut jobs will get elected by clinging to her panties. Perhaps. But they are now leaderless, and most easy to control. In fact the entire teabagger zoo is manageable, something they were always intended  to be in the first place.

Once upon a time a small group led by Dick  “the dick” Cheney and George Shultz, sat down and decided that they could groom a backward kind of doofus Bush kid who had a wacky “born again” following. They could make him their own, and dance him around to do their bidding. And they did, and he did.

So it ain’t so farfetched to think that a similar band of neo-cons can reason that their Sarah has gone rogue on them, and their teabagger know-nothings have as well. By sacrificing four years, they can solve a lot of problems.

I can see that kind of reasoning among the evil kids.

Whatcha think?

Smack Down! Powell and Clinton Tag Team

Bill Clinton, Billy Kristol, Christine O'Donnell, Colin Powell, GOP, Mike Bloomberg, Neo-cons, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, teabaggers

First for housekeeping: There is a new post over at Walking in the Shadows, should you be so inclined. I’m not sure yet how I’m going to operate this blog vis-a-vis this one. I’m still working it out in my little old head.

Of more consequence, please take a look-see at a new blog Republic of Gilead. Ahab, the writer, left a comment on yesterday’s post about the Values Voter Summit. He went as an infiltrator. I’ve added him to my reader, and he promises to keep watch at the goings on of the religious right. We seem to pretty much look to the same sources, but he’ll make my job a whole lot easier no doubt, and he has a nice looking and reading blog.

I saw Colin Powell and President Bill Clinton on Meet the Press. Powell excoriated the “chatter” from the far right that went beyond legitimate criticism of the President. “Let’s get this straight. The President was born in America, he is a Christian.” Both he and Clinton however saved their worst for Newt (the Slime) Gingrich: Clinton said:

Gingrich does this sort of thing from time to time. (Clinton alluded to similar treatment of he and Hillary during his years.) Newt is running for office. He likes to do this kind of thing and stir things up. It’s his shtick. He knows better, he’s an intelligent person.

This is serious paraphrasing on my part, since I can’t locate any transcripts yet (MSNBC doesn’t have them up yet), but the gist is correct. Powell also said that such attacks are inappropriate. “Attack him on policy, not on stuff like this,” he said.

In other words, Newt, you are an irrelevant SOB and go sit down and shaddup.

Meanwhile (you can’t beat that word for a segue can ya?) Sarah forewent the VVS and paid the price coming in #5 in the “who we want to be prez” vote, and spoke in IOWA last night. I only got a snippet, but it seemed the Moosalini was kinda threatening. Kinda like, “estab GOP, you best do as I say or mama is gonna send my grizzlies against ya.” It was I assume a rather not so veiled finger wagging at Karl (the dough meister and soon to be irrelevant) Rove and perhaps at other more establishment types.

Perky Palin as in “PAY lin,” may just be astute  enough (a word she probably doesn’t know), to realize that she is unelectable but she can sure be the power broker and thus amass more $$ to her personal vault in WaSiLLA. Just a shot in the dark on my part.

Speakin’ of which: Palinator’s baby clone, Christine has continued the ways of most of the really wacko right teabaggers–refuse to be questioned! She cancelled stops at Face the Nation and Fox, apparently not ready to, answer a thing.  Foxy will no doubt set her straight – “we made ya baby!”

The Contrarian came up with an interesting scenario. If the GOP nominates an utter wacko (ala Palin or one of her generated clones) might Bloomberg enter the race as a third-party candidate? And if Colin Powell, another centrist, should join him? Well I’d have to think long and hard about NOT voting for them. At least I would have to seriously investigate a lot of written positional material. What think you?

Am I wrong to think that Billy Kristol may be getting a bit nervous? Between Iraq and Sarah, I’m thinking perhaps a lynch mob might start forming outside his residence? I may do a piece on the neo-con wonder boy next week. Stay tuned.

Well, enough today. I’ve added, subtracted, and otherwise cleaned up a few of the blogroll entries. Too many to name but take a look and if you have been around a while and you’re not there, let me know. I tried to add all my new friends, but invariably will miss someone!

Ummm, it comes as no surprise certainly that God likes water. Planet earth is more water than solid terra firma. Hello? Well, could I inquire SIR? Can you spread it a bit more equitably?

I mean we aren’t so horrid as Oklahoma and Arkansas yet, but good grief.

The weather (I hesitate to call them people) humans are reduced to throwing darts at a board or reading tea leaves.

Which all means that we snuck down to Cedar Rapids with the intent to get groceries, advised that a shower or two might occur here and there. Uhuh, yeah, right. Can you spell GULLY WASHER that went on forever and is still going on? The Contrarian was decidedly piqued as he carted in load after load of soggy fare into the kitchen. And I was none too joyful myself.

I feel a rant coming on, and so be prepared with seat belts and smelling salts tomorrow. I can so far control it, but by tomorrow, well, read fireworks.

Simply Recipes has a lovely summer salad of white beans and Tuna. This is, as she points out, extremely versatile, allowing myriad substitutes. Add some crusty bread, and ya got a really nice hot day meal. (Should we ever see the end of this freakin’ RAIN that is.) Oops, rant suppression!

Case you are unaware, when I’m ranty these days, I tend to channel Lewis Black. I used to channel Roseanne, so I think it’s a bit of an improvement. Try to think Black when you read. I promise it’s usually funnier that way.

As you know, we have our own resident wingnut in IOWA, name of Steven King (no not  the writer). This one managed to find 12 people who agreed with him and apparently are the only voters in his district. Anyway, said asshat suggested that racial profiling was part of the good arsenal of law enforcement which also includes the use of one’s sixth sense, and good foot apparel knowledge. None of this should be done for purposes of discriminating of course. Ahhh, yeah.  You should read to the end, and see what he said about Obama. Seriously, this man is an idiot. And he’s all ours. Go find your own. Reported also in the Iowa Independent here.

World Peace Day is next Monday. The world is ranked by dangerousness and you can see the sorry state of affairs. Iraq tops the most dangerous. It’s not a pretty sight, sadly. Much thanks to Joe.My.God. for the h/t.

Mauigirl has become a good blogging friend of many of us. Her mother, who has been having difficulty for some time, has passed. She writes a moving tribute here. Mimi, thanks for telling us all about your mother.

Probably only of interest to Episcopalians, but it seems the Archbishop of Canterbury, wishing to stir the pot further, denied our Presiding Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schori, the right to wear her mitre or carry her bishop’s crosier when she preached at Southwark Cathedral last week. Petty to say the least. How long can we stay in the Anglican Communion?

We all know that most mine owners flagrantly ignore safety regulations. What we learned is that most oil companies don’t except one: BP. Is there any sane reason why ANY country should allow them to drill offshore? This is a company that deserves bankruptcy and a slow slithering away into oblivion. They are beyond disgust.

TomCat didn’t pick up the Steven King wingnuttery but he got a few from the usual players, and some new ones. Like the loaves and fishes, there is no bottom to the barrel of idiots that rise to the surface of GOP political circles. Teabuggery on Parade is the article you’ll want to seek.

Andrew Sullivan has a pretty interesting take on Bill Kristol and the neo-cons. I like his conclusion–a Palin presidential run–which I can only conclude means we win!

Tengrain reports that Sarah (that woman is an idiot) Palinator is on her way to Britain to meet with the Thatcher woman. (Doesn’t England have a quarantine requirement for Mooselinis?) The Brits have this to say. Or perhaps she might tour that volcano in Iceland and slip? Getting her out of the country is step one. I figure we should come up with something to keep her from getting back in.

Okay…take a deep breath. Didyaknowthatworldcupsoccerisaleftwingconspiracy? Well, Rush and Glenn and all the usual batchitcrazy media nuts are sure to tell ya all about it. I’ve said it a gazillion times: YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS STUFF UP! Tomorrow, how Obama plans a world take over with ice cream (but only Chocolate of course!)

Enough for today kids. Be safe, be sane, and well, be on guard against the aliens among us.
