EBOLA, Media, unions

panicI think it’s the Boomers fault.

If like me, you grew up under the specter of the ATOM BOMB and “duck and cover” exercises in school, you can see that we are at fault.

Since us Boomers all feel that we grew up pretty much okay, except for the one quarter of us who are certifiably insane right wing ranters who think denial of the obvious will some how insulate them from extinction at the hands of an angry god, we figure that we best instill a large chunk of panic in the national diet so that upcoming generations will grow strong like us.

This explains, I think, why media grand viziers seem determined to make each and every “event” one in which we should all be checkin’ our survival rations and “bug out” plans.

It should be, therefore, clear why  ALL the media is in a panic about EBOLA. The fear of God requires it ya see, for only after learning to hold one’s bladder and sphincter in the face of impending death can we come out the other side as well-rounded happy and content people that most of us Boomers actually are.

Of course on the far-far-right in a galaxy too stupid to find it’s way in orbit, the media has all sorts of unusual if not predictable explanations. WorldnetDaily which is peopled by a class of subhumans intractable in their level of stupid, it’s all a deliberate plot by the dark guy Barack Hussain to rid the planet (Amerika that is) of white people. Secretly of course all black people have been issued hazmat suits. (The fist bump signals, “I got mine, you got yours?)

Every Republican running for office is pondering whether we should close the beaches or just nuke the hell out of the continent of Africa and make the world safe for white people. The media, meanwhile is busy asking questions like, ” are we prepared, should people fly, should they poop, and WHO THE HELL IS IN CHARGE?” Which is all quite funny since the Surgeon General would be the obvious person to be in charge but we don’t have one, because the NRA doesn’t like the choice, and the CDC functions with a slashed budget, again because the NRA is afraid that somebody might suggest that gun deaths are a national epidemic and where the hell are guns sales going then?

There is a story, but of course, not one that anybody bothers with, because gosh and darn it, one might have to think a bit, and actually go out in the FIELD and ask questions rather than simple vomit (yikes, where’s the HAZMAT suit?) out trite talking points?

A few days ago, just after the nurse was confirmed as a patient, a bunch of nurses representing some nurses association started talking. And at first it seemed weird and rather silly. Ya see, at first the only question was “how could this nurse contract EBOLA? After all, we had been assured that all them medical folks knew the “protocols” and so it must be this damn African thing was a lot more dangerous than we had been led to believe (enter cries of “it’s Obama’s fault”).

My first reaction was that this was just a bunch of nurses arguing that they were not to blame (the CDC insisting that for a caregiver to come down with the virus meant that there had been a break in established protocols). I kind of laughed it off.

But it was more than that. It turns out the National Nurses Union was giving the country information that was not forthcoming from the people in charge. Certainly nobody at Texas Health Presbyterian was making these admissions. The information the NNU was providing came directly (so they claim) from nursing personnel at THP, information that they were afraid to share openly out of fear.

Why you ask?

Because like most of the South, and increasingly almost everywhere, Texas is a right-to-work state, and the massive THP is not unionized. Nurses there had a story and they were afraid for their jobs to relate it. The NNU received their reports and relayed the information anonymously to protect them from retaliation from the corporate heads.

The reality is that the first patient with Ebola was left in a common area (with other patients and medical personnel) for “hours” after being brought in by ambulance before he was transferred to secure isolation. Senior nursing supervisors complained of this to no avail apparently. Further, nurses were not given proper hazmat suits but used fairly flimsy “contagious disease” coverings that left parts of their bodies exposed. Protocals were “not in place” and the required equipment was not there. Higher ups in the administration of the hospital apparently would not ask for help.

What does this all mean?

It’s hard to say, but surely it should be looked at. The fact is that it is hard to believe that in a unionized business, workers would be afraid to speak out against dangerous conditions. Unions are there for that reason, to protect them against being fired. Further, unions themselves put their foot down and insist on corrections or threaten a strike. It is entirely possible that the the secondary infections could have been avoided.  Of course it may not have been either, and we make no blanket assertion because it is an unknowable.

However, we do know that unions are in place for just these sorts of things–to give workers the ability and protection needed to speak out about issues that often they know much better than suits far removed from the scene do.

It continues to be appalling that our apparently poorly educated folks never learned how much their good life today was due to the unions that are quickly becoming a quaint history notation. Many of these people grew up in union homes and should know this without more. Yet, they have so readily been misdirected to blaming unions for their present financial woes whatever they might be. Surely unions are not perfect, but without them, the worker is left to the devices we see in play at DHP–proper actions being taken too late to be effective.

Just something to think about.

Oh No She Di’nt. Oh Yes She Did

Elvis Presley PerformingOne thing you cannot call me is a prude. I grew up in the 60’s where it was sex, drugs and rock and roll for goodness sakes. We reveled in turning on and tuning out. We dabbled on the edges, at least most of us, and a few sadly jumped off the mountain and died young.

So, don’t say, oh go back to your knitting old woman, this is the new generation. We were all the new generation at one time, and the roaring twenties had nothing kiddies to do with lions.

But even I have to come up short once in a while, and ask. . . . “Really? Haven’t you gone just a bit too far here?”

And I’m not even talking about the occasional “over the top” display of boobs, vaginas, or exploding heads with sprays of blood in every direction. I can even buy that some of this is “necessary” to convey the true horror of the event, time, or business as usual attitude.

I’m talking about the constant one-up-man-ship that seems increasingly necessary in order to capture and keep the attention of the average person.

The danger is never that one single act of viewing will so warp the mind that it will forever impact the life of the viewer. It is so much more than that. It is numbing if the mind to the point that we are becoming more and more desensitized. What used to shock no longer does.

And it happens rapidly.

Just last evening I was bemoaning once again that we have started to watch Breaking Bad when it first started and then for some reason, bailed after a couple of episodes. The Contrarian gently reminded me that the reason was “the violence”. Wow. We had stopped watching Breaking Bad for the same reason we ceased watching the Sopranos?

Yet here we were watching Hell on Wheels and Copper, and The Following. We had avoided Dexter, but were watching  The Bridge which treated us to bodies sawed in half and side nudity and some good simulated sex to say nothing of the same in Copper.

We had, in a word, become desensitized.

mdn18And we are technically now “old people”. We have some ability, one would assume, to separate real from simulated, and reality from fantasy. How does one attribute such abilities to tweens?

When three young fellows decide to kill a person because “they are bored”, we have probably reached the point where reality is no longer recognized as much different from the latest edition of Grand Theft Auto.

I will be the first to admit that the jury seems still out on how much all this has to do with changing the minds of our youth. Reasonable psychologists do disagree, but it cannot be a good thing that we treat violence and the ugliness of exploding bodies a good thing. It cannot make us a kinder, gentler people. Certainly we can agree on that.

It seems to me one thing to blow up star ships even though we ignore that they are filled with hundreds of living beings, and quite another to blow off two-thirds of the face of a man as they recently did in an episode of The Bridge. The fact that it’s not “real” is hardly comforting to young minds. Hell it’s not comforting to me.

It’s now the norm in my household to avert one’s eyes, yelp in shock, and yell out, “they could have warned me!” at the gore that is de rigueur for most cable shows these days. Have you learned to turn away as the crazy person raises the gun to their own head yet? We sure have.

Now, you can argue that we are just watching lousy crap, and that may be true enough. Still, some of these shows are compelling in showing us a bad side of our own history. Hell on Wheels may be often too too graphic in its portrayal of blood and gore, but we do learn that how freed slaves were treated in the real world in the Old West, and how women used their bodies to make a living, and how everybody used and abused the Native people as needed. The were alternatively “saved” and massacred as time allowed.

mileyWhich all brings us to Miley Cyrus and her “act” at the MTV Awards the other night. First I did not watch it, but I have seen the video. Anybody who breathes has heard of it no doubt and the jury is split into “what a slut” and “who the hell cares?”

Women seem to care more than men, since it’s still true that women bear the major burden of raising children, and this shit scares them. Little girls, sadly, love these pop stars, want to dress like them and act like them.  Anybody who has seen Toddlers and Tiaras, knows only too well of what I speak.

One can speculate about Ms. Cyrus’s upbringing, her mental state,  and a host of other psychologically related issues regarding her and her idea of what is appropriate to do in front of cameras, but most of us would rather not have our children witness this behavior as something to emulate. Much as Ms. Cyrus may disagree, this is not the way you “prove you’ve grown up”. Rather it proves that you have a very very long way to go to reach that destination.

I’m the first to admit here that I have no answers to any of this. As you know by now, I don’t specialize in answers so much. I prefer to rant about what is wrong. You find the answer. I’m busy rooting out the problems. And this is a growing one it seems to me.

The business of simulated sex is just not necessary it seem to me. I find it impossible to almost ever conclude that it is “necessary” to a faithful honest portrayal of the character of incident. We can all figure it out without all the grunts and groans and the “yeah baby, now” crap.

The violence? That has a better argument in some cases. I do think it’s important to see the ugliness of our history. Saying that people owned slaves didn’t have much effect until Roots showed us (graphically for its time) what it was to be a slave. The same for things like Amistad. As I have said, Hell on Wheels insofar as it shows the misery of life in the West while building a railroad, gives us a new appreciation for those that built this country. Not the Rockefellers and Carnegies, but the average people who lived out short mean lives doing the business of building.

But where to draw the line? Oh gosh, I don’t know where to begin to set the standards. And perhaps that is the reason we have so little in the way of standards. Where is free speech, art, and individual freedom in all this? All I know is that we have gone too far it seems to me.

The Chronically Stupid Aways Find an Obtuse Angle

JohnWayneSo much stupid, so little time to expose it all.

First there is the Daily Caller. The Daily Caller is a piece of stupid run by Tucker Carlson, from Fox Noise. The Daily Collection of Stupid leaves no stone unturned in its attempt to be irrelevant, stupidly funny, and masterful in its invention of new ways to be stupid every day.

You no doubt have always known that the Reactionary Right, of which the Daily Curd attempts to be the voice for, is a huge supporter of gay rights? You’re not aware of that? Well, slap yourself silly dumb person and listen up.

pink gunYou see, it’s a crying shame, that compromise bill worked out by Senators Manchin and Toomey. Those darn Democrats, always seeking to betray and abuse their gay brothers and sisters.

The bill, Daily Crap points out, will discriminate against gay gun owners. See if you can figure out why?

Figured it out yet?

Well, you see, in states that don’t recognize gay marriage, said gay gun owner will be forced to submit his or her partner to a background check before selling them or giving them a gun for Christmas. That’s because the “family exception” to the proposed new law would not be recognized in non-same-sex marriage recognizing states.

Yes, indeed. I kid you not as they say.

I guess they forgot the provision about neighbor-to-neighbor transfers. I mean what can be more neighborly than actually living in the same house? Seems about as friendly as neighbors can get doncha think?

I gave you the link, lest you think I was pulling your leg, or attempting a frontal lobotomy with a rusty butter knife.

Next on our hit parade of stupid is the ever growing legend of another of those Texas wonders, Steve Stockman.

babybumperYou remember Steve right? The Texan Representative who decided it was a great idea to invite Ted Nugent, aging rocker with like two old hits over 30 years old, who loves guns more than he loves his kids, and all around crazy conspiracy-laden anti-Obama screamer, to the State of the Union speech? THAT Steve Stockman?

Well this is his new way of attracting the marvelous people who contribute to his campaign to continue being a public nuisance.

This is his newly designed bumper sticker which you can attach to the bumper of your car, horse, or forehead, proclaiming you too are stupid as hell.

Is there anything left to say here? Stockman is offensive on just about all of Dante’s levels of hell.

But my favorite this week? Oh that was easy. You probably heard about the kerfuffle about Melissa Harris Perry’s promo for her show on MSNBC? Where she talks about the education of our children and suggests that children just don’t belong to their parents, but in fact belong to the entire community?

The Really Really Ridiculous Right started fainting and running for smelling salts on that one. One heard the immediate refrain, “COMMUNISM” expounded by the likes of Rush, the Drudge, Daily Caller, and Newsbusters.

Newsbusters said this: “. . .the notion of collective responsibility for children was a philosophy that undergirded the Cultural Revolution in Communist China under Chairman Mao. I bring that up because, as you may recall, another Harris-Perry “Lean Forward” spot contains a reference to a “great leap forward,” which calls to mind the disastrous agricultural reform plan which starved millions of Chinese to death in the 1950s.”

Sarah, “HEY, remember me?” Palin tweeted: Apparently MSNBC doesn’t think your children belong to you. Unflippingbelievable.

Rush ME MORE DRUGS Limbaugh said: So how does this manifest itself? So you need your yard mowed, what do you do?” he continued. “You go knock on the door down the street — your kid that you don’t own. I do today. For the next hour, your kid is going to mow my yard. And then after that, my trash needs taking out and after that I need somebody to go to the grocery store for me and my kid’s tied up, so I’m claiming your kid. How does this work?”

From the Lonely Conservative (who decries a new promo declaring that people have basic human rights to education, food, housing and so forth): Maybe in her next promo she can just come out and quote directly from the Communist Manifesto.

Okay folks, settle down. Let’s recall a few things. There is a rather famous saying, “it takes a village to raise a child.” That is in fact the title of one of Hillary Clinton’s books. Let’s not forget that we all pay property taxes wherever we live, and part of that money goes directly to support local school systems. Guess what? Those who are not parents pay them as well, on the theory that EVERYONE  has a stake in children being educated.

Has everyone on the Right forgotten the “good old days”? You remember when extended families lived together and everyone thought that all children were so much better off having more people busy raising them? Remember the Waltons? Remember when we were children and the teacher as “loco parentis” was considered “always right” if we were disciplined? Remember when any neighbor had a perfect right to correct your behavior if not physically, at least verbally?

Do we not all have a stake in the future of our next generation of teachers, lawyers, doctors, soldiers, and seamstresses? These are the folks who will govern the country when we are using our walkers in the hallways of senior facilities.

I mean how stupid can you be to see something sinister in what Ms Harris-Perry said? How much must you twist and distort it to make it look dangerous and “otherly”?

Do you not see that it is exactly this utterly over-the-top reaction to something so innocent and benign and TRUE, that makes even the fairly non-interested middle of America think the far Right has more than a few screws loose? The GOP and it’s cadre of stupid are swirling into the sinkhole of oblivion and pretty much nobody cares.

Next: RED Jello is a Commie plot with nanobots invading your body and indoctrination in each red sugary gelatin grain.

Putting “Bob” in a Search Engine

critical reading, critical thinking, Louis Gohmert, Media, PPH, right wing extremists, sex education, Texas

Robert Melendez 1You know, everybody says they “don’t believe everything” they hear. Everybody likes to think of themselves as discerning individuals who eyes can’t be covered with wool. But the truth is, most people aren’t educated, or have not taken the time to really work at what can only be termed a skill set.

Being a critical reader doesn’t come naturally. A Facebook friend of mine is busy trying to educate a few people about how to tell the questionable from the reliable. He makes a good point. You might want to ignore a source that gives you salacious or wild headlines without a corresponding story. In other words, if the headlines don’t turn out to match the actual verifiable facts in the story, well, you might want to look elsewhere.

A case in point was a recent Rachel Maddow show wherein Ms. Maddow referred to the town hall meeting that John McCain had. A woman referred to her son as having been the victim of gun violence. She wanted to know about what laws Congress might pass. McCain first expressed his condolences for the loss of the woman’s son, and then remarked that “Congress was not going to ban assault weapons.”

Now Rachel indicated that the tape of this had been edited by a local news operation, and that “it might unfairly portray Senator McCain as lacking in compassion. (the tape omitted the sentence regarding McCain’s sympathies). The tape was offered for the news that McCain was saying that the GOP was not going for any ban on assault weapons and this was before there had even been any hearings on Feinstein’s bill.

Yet, the headline from a right-wing shrill machine was something like “Rachel Maddow gleefully admits she edited tape to make GOP look bad.”

I assume you get the point.

The Daily Caller has been pushing the Melendez story. You have obviously heard about it. Melendez is accused of cavorting with paid prostitutes at a friend’s home in the Dominican Republic. The story was apparently “leaked” by GOP operatives and offered to ABC news. They declined.

The right-wingers would say, “see, the MSM is in the pocket of the Democrats. They don’t report on misconduct of one of their own.” Is that what happened? No. Not at all.

The fact is that ABC interviewed one of the “prostitutes”. When asked how she knew that the man she had only known as “Bob” was a US senator, she replied that “I put his name in a search engine and Melendez’ picture came up.”

Why, I invite you to try that and see what you get.

ABC news declined the offer as “unreliable”, which of course The Daily Caller jumped all over it. Which one do you want to use as a source of information? (And I’m not pushing ABC news since I don’t find them all that good either.)

Which brings me full circle, since yesterday I unfairly maligned a nurse quite possibly, for failing to render CPR assistance to an elderly assisted-living woman. Apparently the woman had signed a DNR and I can presume that the nurse was aware of it. Or I would expect that was possible. In any case, I admittedly relied on only what I heard on news broadcasts from MSM and failed to delve any deeper into better sources. Mea Culpa. Live and learn. Hoisted on my own petard. (please insert any another euphemism that seems appropriate)

†

I’m inclined at this point to urge the government to just put a big ole fence around the state of Texas. Now granted, they are a big state, and they have a big population, but for Jimminy Cricket’s sake, they can’t have THAT many idiots can they?

Louis the Loon Gohmert is wasting your tax dollars once again with his amendment rider to a budget bill that would prevent any “federal funds” being used to transport the President to any golf outing until “White House tours are resumed”. Louis woke up from a drug-induced dream and thought he was in Lilliputian land again. The White House suspended tours to save money ala the sequester. Louis takes up space on the planet. I vote to suspend him from a hot air balloon, attached to the capital dome.

Another dim bulb in the state Senate wants to suspend operations like Planned Parenthood from submitted sex education materials to schools that teach sex education. Although all such materials are already subject to public availability and parental veto, Ken Paxton thinks (I know, a crazy word to apply to many in Texas), that present law doesn’t go far enough.

Places like PPH should not be allowed to offer health care information because of course they have a “conflict” of interests. Being that they provide abortions, they most surely would be promoting sex by unmarried teens as a way to, you know, keep business up.  While no example of any information that does that was offered as proof, insiders believe that if you put the brochures in water with a teaspoon of sugar, the words “HAVE SEX NOW!” will appear across the top of each page.

Okay, I added that last part.

And people talk about the misuse of taxes.

The next time some nitwit masquerading as a person tries to tell you that they watch Faux News to get the “fair and balanced” take on the news, remind them that of course Faux Crap is anything but fair. Of course, we knew that, but this chart lays it out clearly. I’m guessing they have a favorite here, and are doing their best to help.

Here in New Mexico, we are good and blue. Nobody came to campaign here because Obama has this state in one of his “safe” columns. Yet, all week long, we have been subjected to obnoxious and untrue Crossroads and Americans for Prosperity negative Obama ads. Since it will change absolutely nothing, you have to ask yourself why.

My only answer is that they are so flush with cash they can afford to throw it away. It’s a bit like the Koch brothers standing out in front of my house and burning a barrel of thousand dollar bills, just cuz, you know, they can. It’s that meaningless to them. It’s insulting. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t vote for their candidate if you offered me the money instead.

Our polling place was busy this morning when we arrived. A steady stream  of people were coming and going and the line was only about four minutes. Clear and concise instructions were posted in English and Spanish. When we deposited our ballots in the counter, we were told to wait and make sure that the counter ticked up one. Everything was well run. A police cruiser was parked outside, a few people were carrying “vote for” signs at the entrance. No harassment. I wish every were as lucky.

I spent a few minutes yesterday afternoon at Blaze. They have a fine crop of nuts there. They are of course sure this will be a Romney landslide because they drank the kool-aid and believe all the polls are underrepresenting Republicans. They are very worried that Obama will just undue the entire republic in the time from election to the swearing-in. They want to know what the legal provisions are to tie the black man up until he can be ushered out of the WHITE house, and hopefully into jail stripes. I got a good chuckle. If you want to know what Alzheimer’s looks like, do tune in and read a few comments.

The pundits for the most part are “journalists” in search of a story. They can’t bear to tell the truth, that the polls are pretty clear how this should go. They keep up the mantra of “razor-thin” margin because gosh darn it, that’s what they want. If you were to ask them their favorite election, they would surely say 2000 when it went on for days and weeks, and they were able to be on air endlessly speculating on what would sooner or later be obvious.

Glenn Beck is still ranting on radio. His latest barrage of garbage comes on election eve:

If you look at history through a biblical world view, the last step before a nation is completely destroyed is they drive the righteous from among them. If this isn’t a sign of a group of people that will drive the righteous from among them, and that’s the last step before God’s wrath comes, I fear for our country and it is – it cannot be overstated, it cannot be called paranoid … If you are a God‑fearing person, hear me. Last call, America. Last call. Because the righteous will be driven from among them.

Sorry Glenn, that is paranoid. So you think that Barack Obama is the last straw in our downward spiral to evil? Nothing like the decimation of an entire people almost to extinction qualifies? Or the ownership of another group of people who required a war to end? Not that either huh? No, it took Obamacare to really piss off God. Sure Glenn, I do see now.

So we wait. Let’s hope we aren’t still up at midnight Mountain time.

Election 2012, Foxy Noise, GOP, Media, teabaggers, the insane Right wing

I may be reasonably optimistic about next Tuesday, but I am heeding the warnings.

What warnings you ask?

Why those trumpeted by all this brilliant Rightie-Tightie types who are sure that Armageddon, nuclear holocaust, civil insurrection, anarchy, or general downright pissyness is in store should Obama be defeated.

What you say? The gun-totin’, Bud-swilling, butt-crack showin’ Teabuggery crew is gonna explode in violence should the dark one be unseated?

No silly. It’s us! The 47%’ers, who are nothing more than money-grubbing, socialist-leaning, welfare wallowing, takers! We are gonna rise up with our pitchforks (or the urban equivalent) and make war upon the Republican world for taking away our cushy lifestyles. You know, the ones we now enjoy thanks to the socialistic provisions like social security, medicare, Medicaid, unemployment pay, welfare, food stamps, PELL grants, and anything else stamped with a big fat F for FREE. Cuz the GOP is takin’ it away, and we ain’t gonna stand for it.

So, just to be safe, I’m preparin’ myself to go on a shooting spree, and I’m gonna take aim at all those MERR-SAAAA-DEEE’S BENDS that my girl Janis sang about. Lord didn’t give me one, so I’m taken one on  my own.

Now, I did not learn all this by my own sweet smellin’ brain operation, I want you to know. I learnt it from those fine fuzzy minds that I so have grown to love over the years.

Case in point.

Joseph Farah.

Now, Joe, (his friends call him Joe and I do so feel friendly toward him), Joe says that should the President win, life in this world will be simply unlivable. He says the following is absolutely certain to follow:

There may not be another free and fair election in America.

I would expect due process to go the way of the horse and buggy.

I think he will move to shut down and destroy all independent media.

In fact, I think his biggest critics will be rounded up in the name of national security.

So, you know, right-thinking good Americans must do whatever it takes to make sure that don’t happen. I mean make sure the great tanned man is defeated. That sure sounds a lot worse than me co-opting a car for goodness sake!

But oh my, if he does lose, then the worstest of all things will happen:

Nobody less than Bryan Fischer says this, and you know he is never wrong.

Now this is all beginning to look a lot like damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

This is probably why there is virtually a run on anti-hallucination medicine everywhere in the US. The GOP is gobbling up those pills like no tomorrow, trying to maintain some sort of reality based sanity in what can only be described as pure puke insanity.

To win or not to win? That is the question. Tis it nobler to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortitude. . . .? Hamlet didn’t know, and I sure don’t either.

But either way, I think it mighty fine advice to get ready for a few bubbles to burst, a few heads to explode, and that the only meaningful head movement may end up being side to side, an equivocator’s dream you must admit.

No more stable and even-headed human than Billo the Clown, weighed in on the troubling upsurge in Democratic-violence sounding with this:

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I want the Republican Party to know if your voter suppression throughout this beautiful country enables Romney to oust Barack Obama, we will burn this (EXPLETIVE DELETED) town.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: If the Republicans steal this election, I’m going to track down Mitt Romney and give him the world’s biggest (EXPLETIVE DELETED) punch.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

O’REILLY: That first woman who was swearing 97 years old. And that spot was helped out by our pal Michael Moore. So now, the far-left is threatening violence if President Obama loses the election. That’s what they are doing with old ladies.

Now, Billo goes on to say that the Democratic party isn’t responsible for MoveOn, but he’s now “uneasy” about the direction of the Democratic Party, and if you vote for Obama, you accept these “loons” as part of the party. Furthermore, the President’s failure to repudiate them, makes him “culpable” to “some” degree.

Yes, old women are certainly dangerous aren’t they? We are “turning” old ladies into suicide bombers? Ya think?

So, I’m not taking chances, no sirree. I’m preparing. Either to defend myself, or to go out hunting me some GOP’ers who are takin’ away my guv’mint dole. Billo after all, wouldn’t mislead me would he? No, certainly not.

I’m thinking that the almost best thing in the world is to not give a shit and be say, Norwegian, and just sit and watch 300+ million people go completely wiggers. I hear Iceland is tired of being in the cold and will offer up the entire island as a lunatic bin for Americans. After all, the land is still worth something. Negotiations are beginning with Native Peoples.

I’m prepared. Are you?

More proof that the Right is Right, and Up is Down and Left is Right, and Oh cry me a river woncha?

We’ve talked a lot here about the racism that seems inherent in much of the opposition to the President. It includes the overt racism expressed in placards carried by Tea People, the use of code words and phrases, the never-ending attempt to challenge his place of birth, the claims that he is “not American” in the sense that “we” are, and the general attempt to paint him as “other.”

No finer piece of work on the subject can be Atlantic had that this article written in The Atlantic by senior editor, Ta-Nihisi Coates, entitled Fear of a Black President. I think you would do well to read it.

Unless I am slightly daft (hey, don’t start now), The Economist would be what I would term a conservative magazine. It’s about Bizness after all, and business is mostly conservative.

Well, a more scathing article could not be found about our boy Willard. I mean they say that at this point they cannot support him, mostly because they have no clue what he believes in, and moreover they find many of his foreign policy statements actually dangerous.

It’s quite a indictment of the flip-flopping, principle-less Bain businessman who claims he can run an economy when he apparently can’t run a campaign.

◊

If you been around here, you know I ain’t no fan of Rinsed Penis, Rancid Penis, or as his  momma calls him Reince. Chris Matthews took him to the woodshed about Willard’s use of the race card, naming the “birther” joke and his demonstrably untrue claims that Obama is removing work requirements for welfare recipients. You can watch the video of that confrontation on Morning Joe, here.

Now, I’ll admit that Chris goes over the top at times, and may have here, but when Penis gets his chance he proves the case when he accuses Obama’s stimulus and health care packages as things he “gets from Europe.” Rinsed was unable to see that he again as trying to paint the President as something “other” than American.

Worse, Willard himself has doubled down on his welfare work requirements claims, now stating outright that the President did this to “play to his base” apparently meaning that the President’s natural constituency are those who are on welfare. Now exactly who is playing to their base? And what is that base but the worst possible American traits of racism coupled with a lack of any sense of community spirit?

Gawker has gotten ahold of nearly a thousand pages of Romney family finances. Apparently it shows how the family money was placed in numerous off shore accounts, and used a variety of equity swaps, all to avoid paying taxes. Read the originals at Gawker or get the Grio’s take on the mess here.

◊

Since the big old flap that Todd Akin started, the dick-in-mouth disease of male Republicans continue. Paulie claimed that rape was “just a method of conception” to his position that abortion is wrong in EVERY situation. And now the Virginia Governor, and one time VP wannabe, Bob McDonnell says that the GOP platform that echos Paulie’s position is just a “detail”.

◊

Oh those pesky videos. If you are like me, and still trying to wrap your head around why Romneycare is super and “Obamacare” is not, well here’s another noodle for your spaghetti dinner.

It turns out that in 2008 when Willard was running for the Presidency, he actually was asked if he wanted to expand his Romney care to the nation and whether he really wanted all Americans covered by a national health care plan.

Yes he was asked, and he answered! This was back in the day when Willard answered questions with actual answers that related to the question. If you don’t believe me, well watch the video which suggests that Willard was all for these things but 4 years ago. Alas, the compulsion to be president at all costs does much to change the mind of a man with no principles.

Well, that’s it for today. Seems I’ve mastered the embedded YouTube at last. So the sky’s the limit now kiddies. Soon, I’ll embed odors in the post and then sweet kisses from puppies! lol

Take care.
