What’s wrong with the type of men that Willard “The Stench” hangs with, is that they are experts at “locker room” talk when nobody is around. You know what I mean. They are the one’s who are so politically correct in public, except when they let it slip that they are quite different with the “boys.”

You can almost hear the snickering about the “masses” that goes on in the country club over lunch as they compare the latest vacation spot in Europe and prattle about the newest investment scheme to “harvest” some profits at low risk.

John Bolton is one of the “boys” to be sure, and a snarly nasty example of neo-con war hawking manliness. You can almost hear the laughter that permeates his macho speech. These are the anti-women, anti-gay, anti-minority men who surround Willard and give him his economic and foreign policy policies. Today Bolton called the President’s Libyan policy as “limp-wristed.” How nice of him to insult a whole segment of America unnecessarily, all to make his point that the President doesn’t live in the bomb- first league with him.

A Manhattan storage company is having some fun with advertising boards. Apparently he’s been at it for some time.

The one about Michele “crazy eyes”  Bachmann is the best. We hear that MB is having herself some time in her re-election campaign. We can only hope that the people of Minnesota have finally come to their senses and discovered that she is insane.

But we doubt it.

We do hope though. Hope springs eternal among people my age.

What’s going on in Republican circles these days? I mean once you ignore the silliness of Krauthammer, Dick Morris, Hannity, and the usual bilge dumpers. The question is “who decided to nominate this guy?” Yep the blame game is already starting up and it promises to be a doozy, once the election is finished and Willard starts ejaculating into the conversation how it wasn’t his fault. Hint: just remember what the other choices were (Huntsman excepted).

•

Every day, if you read enough stuff in the old Google reader, you come upon the stupidest jerk on the planet, for the day. Each day, a new one. I can only figure that God has some formula for stupid. As a joke factor he slides us an idiot to keep the game interesting. Just what is the ratio?

Today the idiot meter went off and nearly woke up the house when I found out that there is a guy who is a mayor in Maine who has a lot of Somalian immigrants. Now said idiot says they have to stop living their own culture, and must leave it at the door, and adopt ours. Whatever that means.

His name is Bob McDonald and he ei-ei-ohed off some farm where he was probably sleeping with the pigs (as in sleeping, not that other thing–you potty brain!). Anyway, he is just another one of your colorful clowns who has managed to somehow pull the wool over his community who confoundedly elected him. My dog is smarter.

McDonald is a Republican. He ran against a dead guy. He only managed to win by 7 votes. Sigh. I’m signing up for the first interplanetary shuttle to NewStar when the begin the immigration. I sure hope I don’t have to leave my culture at the door.

Nate Silver says that the convention bump of Obama did stall as predicted. But when you make God happy, good things happen! The infamous 47% story has got it moving upward again. Or, as we say, gee Mitt, you DID build that!

•

This is why the Religious Right falls on deaf ears among rational people: Case in point. One pastor of a mega church in Indiana, Pastor Jack Schapp, has just pled guilty to having a sexual affair with a teen girl. The pastor had been counseling the girl, and was the author of a book for teen girls and dating. His advice? Keep your weight own. It’s not that there aren’t bad people in and out of religion, but it’s always the vocal “moralists” who are doing the most immoral things. They give all believers such a bad name. It’s a shame. They need to shut the pie hole.

•

A close runner-up for idiot of the day is our favorite Todd Akin, remember the dude and his “legitimate rape” claims? Well Todd is one stupid man. After debating Senator Claire McCaskill, he called her “not at all ladylike like she was in 20o6.” Todd, shut your pie hole.

Once upon a time, Akin was supposed to finish off the Democrats and turn the Senate into a GOP love land. Well, that is not likely to happen now, and where once (was it so short a time ago?) the GOP was vilifying Akin for his anti-woman remarks, now they are sending him money again, because you know when it comes down to it, women take second place to the chance to get that seat.

There are no principles in the GOP any more are there?

Christine O’Donnell Declared Hazard to Mental Health!

The good news is that Witchypoo will soon be able to go back to fabricating her resumé searching for that ever-desireable non-profit job with a big salary that she has dedicated her sorry life to.

The bad new is, we won’t have the ever-generating nonsense Christine to kick around any more.

As I noted earlier, nowhere was there a O’Donnell reply to her outrageously funny and nationally known OOPS wherein she asked in ALL seriousness, “It’s IN the first amendment?”

Now we know why. Christine, is shocked, shocked I say that everyone is not clasping her to their breasts and falling to their knees in adoration at finding a true understander of the Constitution.

As she put it, “WE were all high-fiving each other having thought I clearly won the debate. And the next day, WE were confused when THEY didn’t agree. ” Yes, kiddies, Christine didn’t go back to her lair and lick her wounds, crying in crocodile tears that nobody ‘splained the constitution to her. No indeed, the remained unaware, and still does it seems that she is an IDIOT.

The Contrarian worries that she used the term “we.”

“Can there be others?” he said shivering in his literal boots.

“At least one, I guess,” I mused.

“They” it seems must be the rest of the world’s population. Why, I imagine even a reasonable good student in Beijing U could figure out that “separation of church and state” was not only implied in the 1st Amendment, but also used directly by a Founding Father, to wit: Thomas Jefferson.

The best line uttered, was (don’t recall her name but she is an ex-House member, and mother-in-law to Chelsea Clinton) this great line on MSNBC’s Chris Matthew’s Hardball: “She makes Sarah Palin look like a Rhodes scholar.”

And we hear she gets money from Angle in Nevada who appreciates having the limelight turned off her as witchypoo expresses a much superior degree of air-headedness. Unintended consequences I guess.

The Revealer reviews a book that looks sensational. In a post entitled Stories the Religious Left Must Tell Itself,  Brent A.R. Hege looks at Changing the Script: An Authentically Faithful and Authentically Progressive Political Theology for the 21st Century, by Daniel Schultz.

Need I say more than Margaret and Helen? I promise you, you will not regret going over and reading another knee-slapping, rib-splitting take on Merika and the Po-lit-ikal scene.

Almighty God, I confess. . .that whenever I see the name John Bolton, I am overcome with a desire to tie him down, and with a pair of tweezers, pull out every hair of his mustache, one at a time, slowly and with as much upper lip pain and I can foment. Whew, I’ll say 3 “our Father’s and 3 Hail Mary’s for that tonight!

***

I saw something on MSNBC this morning about Clinton (Bill that is) being rather dumbfounded that the Democrats (read Administration) has done such a lousy job of speaking on its successes in turning the economy around. I’ve seen this graft before, but it bears another look. Does anything more needs be said?

H/T to Moe at Whatever Works!

There are two new posts at Walking in the Shadows. One was written about a week ago, but somehow, never “published.” One deals with Catholic matters, the other is more general. Enjoy if you are so inclined.

Tengrain points out that which we all noticed in Sarah (where’s the money?)Palin’s tweet about Juan Williams: notably that Ms. Moosey thinks that an employer is required to employ someone whose views conflict with the employer’s business. All this is part of the 1st Amendment, Ms. Palinator thinks. She says everyone is outraged at NPR’s behavior. Hmmm, don’t think so there Mooselini. I think they are appalled at your lack of understanding of basic constitutional law. Try again, or call up Witchypoo, she seems quite clear on 1st Amendment issues.

The Contrarian and me too are getting really tired of women telling men to “man up.” No such alternative by men would be tolerated. And the only women using such terms are anti-feminist women who are trying to hi-jack the term to apply to conservative Phyllis Schlafly types. Feminists don’t indulge in just trying to be the new DICK on the block. We change the atmosphere of discourse. Learn up Sharron and Christine, and Sarah, and Carly and Meg, and all of you “traditional” women masquerading as “liberated”.

Oh and a big thanks to NBC for FINALLY doing a decent piece on mainstream news about the outrageous influx of big business money to Republican coffers. They called out Rove and his band of CEO ass-kissers. They have received several checks (at least 4 in a week or so) in the $1,000,000 range. Talk about buying an election! If I see Alito shaking his head one more time,  when Obama warned of this, I’ll be ready to get my tweezers again and start searching his body for hair to pull.

***

See ya tomorrow!

Okay, so, it’s Friday, and the end of another week. I’m in the process of making Arroz con Pollo for dinner. It’s a bit detailed and fussy, but we are looking forward to it. I’ll tell you how it turned out and give you a recipe if it’s really good.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, here’s the fabulous finds I made today. Hope you find something of interest:

gay-book-april241Drop by The Wild Reed, and read his take on homophobia in the hip-hop industry.  While I’m a bit too old for the scene myself, Michael shows how bashing gays seems to be quite prevalent in the genre, and guess what? lots of them folks is secretly gay. But of course you knew that.

It’s a fascinating look at the world of machismo turned upside down. I think you will like it. And we all need to keep informed don’t we?

~~~
Tim at Straight-Friendly has a lovely reflection on getting closer to God. That is the point of Lent in some sense isn’t it? His analogy that he learned form his mother ( a most wise woman for sure) makes the point directly and clearly. Tim’s work is always worth reading, but some are little  masterpieces. Don’t miss this one!
~~~

boajet

Ya gotta laugh. They don’t get it. They just don’t get it. Like I said yesterday, the filthy rich DON’T GET IT. Watergate Summer reports that Bank of America head honcho, Ken Lewis, arrived in Washington to answer for the bonuses paid with our money, in you guessed it—HIS PERSONAL JET. Yep, uhuh. I say make ’em walk the plank, get in the stocks, and hoist their hinny to the seat in the dunk tank.

~~~
People Joe The Plumber MemoirThe gift that keeps on giving, is, well giving again. Appearing at the CPAC meeting, Joe Wurzelbacher, AKA “The Plumber” is telling us that he would slap and probably shoot a few congress folks if he were there. And glory be, reporters have no business in war zones, uh reporting. What Joe was doing in Israel a few weeks ago, well, I guess we can probably all agree, that was NOT reporting.
I can only bet that McCain and Palin are so very proud of their offspring. He’s turning out to be a wonderful spokesperson for the Rethugs. Yes, keep it coming Joe. We have those mid-terms to look forward to in 2012.
~~~

republican_logo1Speaking of CPAC, I swear you cannot make this stuff up. We have all been watching the strange duck Michael Steele has been turning into with all his hip hop references and the party being “off the hook.” Well, it’s spreading. CPAC moderator Michelle Bachmann got to introduce the new GOP head, and the Minnesota Rep, did so in fine style: “You be da man! You be da man!” I means really, this is getting embarrassing. Do the wingnuts now in control of the Rethugs actually think they will get black and young votes this way? I mean seriously? I mean, oh, hell, it’s too funny. I hope they keep this up. This is like watching episodes of  “world’s worst wrecks.” Popcorn anyone?

~~~
boltonAll roads seem to lead to the CPAC meeting today folks. I can’t help it, they are just generating the fun these days. John Bolton, in the top ten running for world’s biggest idiot, gave his speech to the wonk heads of the GOP. In it, he talked about a nuclear explosion via terrorism coming to of all places Chicago. He got wild applause.
These are some sick puppies. All one can do is shake one’s head and remember that this is the price of freedom. We gotta let sludge like this have microphones.
~~~

Tip of the day: The louder the GOP squeals, the better job Obama is doing. The decibel level has reached the painful point, and I can only conclude that things are going well.

Long term prediction: If there is recovery in the economy that is in any way tangible by the end of the year, Obama can do about anything he wants. Voters will put pressure on Congress to vote through his legislative agenda.

~~~
The weekend friends will be thin. I’m off to a six hour Lenten retreat at Church tomorrow, and of course the usual stuff on Sunday with an extra meeting on the church library added. I’ll post a little something if I have time. Enjoy, and welcome that Spring!
