gawkersYa just knew it would come down to this. Although of course, there just might be a last-minute reprieve that postpones things another few days or weeks.

When you deal with unstable and basically ignorant people, there is little hope of getting through with logic or common sense.

And the TeaBirchers are certainly unstable and certainly ignorant. It’s hard to understand what they are for or against, unless it starts with the letter O, they are against all things O. Once you cross that line, any semblance to a recognizable landscape vanishes and you might as well try to remain upright walking through the fun house.

Many a pundit has concluded that the TeaBirchers are not people who want to govern but rather those who wish to destroy government in general. That’s partially true.

These pundits claim that the TeaBirchers were sent to Washington to say NO to everything that has to do with spending money. Reduce government to a size that can be drowned in a bathtub they cry, ala Norquist. Yet, if you ask them (the average idiot who wears the funny tri-corner hat at the rallies) if he or she is ready to dump social security or medicare, well, they are pretty much likely to carry these signs:

Tea-Party-Medicare-signAs I said, these folks are severely lacking in basic knowledge about that of what they speak.

Which always brings us to race, and well, yes, that is a huge part of what’s going on here, but not all.

The thing is most TeaBirchers aren’t against social security and Medicare. They like those things. They feel they should have those things for themselves. But they are very suspicious that nice upstanding, hardworking, bible-clutching, (read WHITE) folks like themselves are but a small number of the people who are getting this “earned benefit”.

It’s all those “other” people who don’t deserve these benefits that cause the trouble. Why, these little programs would be just fine (and hugely smaller) if only the “right” people got the benefits.

Now, of course that is not the way Calgary Ted or Randy actually see things. They are serious elitists, draped in the American flag, and passionately proclaiming that “real Americans” don’t want or need government handouts of any sort. Get old? Your family is responsible for that, and heck, the poor house is still a viable option for those who refuse to work until they drop dead. Work keeps you young! Be just poor? Company towns will make sure there is a roof over your head (of sorts) a few square feet of personal space and all the potatoes and fat back you can eat. Keeps you healthy enough to work on the killing floor of the slaughterhouse no?

Course Ted and Randy keep that “real” agenda on the QT, since the rabble may be dumb, but probably not that dumb.

There are, shockingly, no hordes poised at the gates threatening to storm the Bastille. But you wouldn’t know that to hear Ted or Michele, or any of the rest of the utterly crazy head spinners who grab every microphone within a ten yard radius to tell us that “all the American people know that Obamacare is a disaster, and 30 million people who have healthcare are losing it”, and the death panels are mere seconds from having their first hearing to DENY YOU your dialysis treatment.

You’d really think that there should be crowds picketing the White House no?

Did somebody forget that Obama beat the Romney “we hate Obamacare” machine by a record 51%, a higher margin than any posted since DD Eisenhower? Higher than even Ronnie “the now God” Reagan? Did somebody forget that the Democrats WON seats in the Senate and increased their number while Republicans LOST seats in the 2012 election? Did somebody forget that with having a near strangle hold on almost all of their gerrymandered seats in the House, they managed to lose a net 8 seats to Democrats and lost the popular vote by a 1.4 MILLION vote margin?

Does that suggest that people on average are pretty okay with the Affordable Healthcare Act?

Does the fact that out of the numbers who are “against” Obamacare, fully 30% are against it because it doesn’t go far enough, “i.e., single-payer system). And that those “against” it go down when you use the words Affordable healthcare Act instead of Obamacare?

Does the fact that by a strong majority people don’t think it’s appropriate to defund an existing law or threaten a government shutdown to do what you can’t do at the ballot box, matter?

Funny, when the GOP talking pointers tell me how much “all Americans” know Obamacare is a disaster, they never mention these points.

Funny, they also (with straight faces to a fault) tell me that the President and Harry Reid are unwilling to negotiate. I mean let’s get past the chutzpah of these folks who refuse on principle to compromise on ANYTHING, because it’s a dirty word. First get past that. Then riddle me this brain of a protozoan:

The AHA was passed by both houses of Congress by MAJORITIES, duly signed into law by the PRESIDENT, and found CONSTITUTIONAL by a Court that nobody considers liberal under the most strained definition.

The GOP cannot manage to either win the Presidency, nor the Senate, nor convince Democrats (some of which surely must care about the well-being of the American public before the well-being of their party) to pass in both houses a repeal nor convince the President that he should go along with them.

Failing that, they have said, okay, a minority of us within 1/2 of 1/3 of the government, are willing to burn the place down if we don’t get our way, having figured out no other means to get our way–LIKE VOTES BY THE PUBLIC ELECTING THEM TO CONTROL THE GOVERNMENT.  It’s akin to a robber putting a gun to your head and saying, “your money or your life, and if you refuse to give me your money, well don’t blame me that you are dead.”

They think I’m so stupid that I will blame the hostage rather than the hostage taker.

I am not going to blame the hostage.

Nobody is going to blame the hostage.

Except fellow travelers of the hostage takers. And you had then at hello.

The question left is: JOHN BOEHNER DO YOU HAVE PAIR? EVEN A STRAP ON SET WILL DO AT THIS POINT. You can give ’em back if it’s too heavy a carry after this  is over. ONCE AND FOR DAMN ALL.

John Boehner Seeks Asylum in Any Non-Tea Drinking Country

house-speaker-john-boehner-crySeriously, the dude will go anywhere where tea is not drunk, spoken of, or dangled precariously off the rims of head-gear.

John is dangerously close to drowning in a sea of tea. The mere mention of Boston makes him shudder. The words Pekoe or Darjeeling make him quiver in fear.

John is scared I tell ya. Things never thought to be on his horizon are looming like orca whales with maws agape. He can smell the fine stomach acids emanating from their bellies in anticipation of John Meat.

You remember the Hastert Rule no doubt. A cute piece of party law, instituted by that great constitutionalist and all-around patriot, Dennis Hastert, the rule was designed to protect the GOP from embarrassment when a few too many of its members felt compelled to vote “nay” to a popular piece of legislation.

Hastert instituted it so that no legislation was ever brought to the floor unless it already had a majority of Republican votes. When a majority chose not to violate, say their allegiance to the United States of Exxon-Mobile or America the NRA, they were protected from having to take that stance publicly, because old Denny would just not let the bill come to the floor for a vote.

And that, ladies and gents is the way real DEMON-ocracy works in Merika.

So, Johnny the Orange has lived by the Hastert rule since his speakership began. It worked flawlessly until, oh say, when the GOP got its butt handed to it in slices via the 2012 election. Suddenly, with Congressional approval ratings on life-support, and most of that directed at the GOP, well, things had to change.

John first violated the Hastert Rule over the December 2012 “fiscal cliff” discussion, realizing that unless he wanted to start digging his own and his party’s grave, it was the sensible thing to do. That was followed the Hurricane Sandy relief bill of which his own tea Potter clan refused to accede. Now this was considered highly egregious by even the non-Tea Potters within the party seeing as how they had always supported relief packages quickly in the face of need to the Midwest and the South East.

And then of course Boehner was forced to abandon Denny’s Detour Delight once again when it came to the Violence Against Women Act, an act that was already a law, but needed periodic “re” validation. The Tea Potters objected to those gay women being protected and those native women being assaulted by white guys who had just had a bit too much to drink. I mean ALL assaults aren’t bad are they?

But Boehner saw the writing on the wall (volumes of mail calling him names that are not printable here), and brought all three of these bills before the full house and getting them passed with sizeable Nays from the Tea Potters who really hated being “outed” (pardon my gay reference) by their chief of crap.

So, what has all that got to do with Boehner’s desire to leave our fair shores?

Well, Boehner has been warned by his Tea Dribblers that this outing has to stop. They, as any good Republican certainly knows, want to continue to hide behind the very substantial pants of one Dennis Hastert and his curtain of shame. And they have told Johnny, to stop THAT.

Except now, John is squarely in the crosshairs (pardon the gun pun) of the gun safety issue.

You see, it seems that there is a very good likelihood that the Manchin-Toomy bill will pass the Senate. It is a not so great bill, since it comes with the usual loopholes (like how are we policing “sales between relatives” and what the hell constitutes a “neighbor”), but it’s better than no bill at all, which was looking awful likely a couple of days ago.

So John, who has been able to avoid doing much of anything for 4+ years because he could count on the filibuster keeping ANYTHING from ever hitting the Senate floor, and thus he could “wait until the Senate did it’s job and passed a bill”, is now faced with the reality that a bill will hit the floor and lord of all lords, will probably pass.

That leaves Johnny with the sticky wicket as it were. For seriously his idiot Tea Potters are so used to that Glock stuck up their behinds that they dare not breathe compromise or Wayne La PeePee Pierre will pull the trigger blowing their shit to kingdom come.

And folks it gets sweeter than this.

The Senate is probably also poised to pass an immigration bill as well. It too will be crummy, but not quite as crummy as nothing.

And John is sweatin’ that one too, for if anything gets his Tea Potters more upset than having a loaded Glock go off in their booties, it’s the thought of tens of thousands of those confounded “brownies” getting citizenship in their respective states, thumbing their noses at their newly blown off white asses, and running against them and getting the Latino vote and redecorating their TeaPotter offices in Turquoise and desert red.

So, John, is swooning with pique.

John is asking why he ever wanted this damn job in the first place.

John is wondering whether a nice cushy job with one of his long time corporate supports wouldn’t make more sense.

John is polishing his passport and scouring the globe for a non-tea country to settle down in.

A Rolling Stone Gathers Whatever Is In Its Way

boehner-orangeSir Boehner of Orange is not a man who is cozy with the truth. He, like so many of his cohorts, believe it is a most malleable thing to be twisted and pulled into whatever shape is necessary to feed the agenda they are pushing at any given time.

As most of us know, the sequester is looming on the horizon, and the GOP chatter seems as usual to ignore facts and create a new reality as needed. Thus the sequester is the “president’s idea” as if he designed it as the solution to our fiscal ills.

The Grand Bargain that Boehner continues to claim fell through because the President “changed” the offer at the last minute, is a total lie. In fact Boehner made the deal only to discover that he could not control the crazy element in his own caucus. Because of the Hastert Rule (thou shalt not bring to the floor a bill not already approved by a majority of your party), Boehner knew the deal could only pass with Democratic help. That he was not prepared to do, so he created the myth that the President changed the offer.

Given that time was short and the GOP was threatening to destroy the economy unless they got their way, the President proposed a draconian alternative that would come into play in six months. This was supposed to ensure that a meaningful debate and agreement would ensue to avoid the awfulness of the sequester. The President originally offered a 50/50 deal–there would be a sequester that consisted of half tax increases and half budget cuts. Boehner refused that deal and insisted that all be cuts.

Moreover, at the conclusion of the sequester deal, Boehner bragged to the press and anyone else that would listen that he had gotten “98% of everything he had been asking for” so he declared himself and his Party the winner.

Those are the real facts.

What the GOP continues to miss here, is that we are not so gullible nor so stupid that we don’t know these facts. So, his little attempt to hijack the truth in favor of his new reality only elicits nods and uhuh’s from his own stupid base. The rest of America sees it for the series of lies it is, and of course, realizes that the GOP is still the party that protects corporate interests to the detriment of the rest of us.

No lessons yet learned. The GOP continues to wallow in the mire of lies. It will remain a party that can’t win the big one. It will continue to try to figure out ways to steal elections. It will continue to be the best comedy routine in town.

You have heard no doubt that the President is heading to Israel? And when he is there, he’s going to get a Presidential Medal of Distinction. And the Right wing reactionaries are livid. They just cannot understand why the vast majority of us cannot see that this man is a horrid, vile, Commie, Islamic lovin’ Israel hater. I mean they cannot fathom this as it is SO obvious that he has a “visceral hostility toward Israel.”

Their answer is of course that the person giving him the medal, Israeli President Shimon Peres, is just a figurehead, who is not liked by most of the population.

It makes me laugh. And then I read their shock and dismay again, and I laugh a bit louder and longer.

The circus continues.

•

I do so appreciate a Republican who wants to help the poor. Jeff Sessions is ready to do just that. His method? Cut welfare of course. I mean really, it just breeds dependency doesn’t it? At least that’s what Newt said back in the 90’s when he pushed through the welfare reforms that resulted in tens of thousands losing their benefits. (hint: you might find some of these folks among the homeless today.)

Anyway, Sessions is bristling at the idea that the GOP is being called the party of the rich. And in a memorandum, he made it clear that they shouldn’t tie this deep desire to help out our poor by tying it to deficit reduction–that looks bad. Instead cuts in food stamps and such should be tied to helping business get healthy so those jobs become available. As everyone knows giving stuff to the poor just breeds more grabby people. Everyone knows that.

Boy, I feel ever so much better knowing the GOP really has a heart.

•

If you have been wondering why the price of gas has gone up sharply, well, yes you guessed it, you can blame the neo-cons. They pushed sanctions against Iranian oil, making Europe and others refuse to buy any. The neo-cons were sure of course (they always are) that this would not impact American prices.

They were also sure that Saudi Arabia would pick up the slack. (That now seems unlikely).

West Texas oil is selling at $100 a barrel, which is not good either.

All this causes prices to rise (and Iran gets the benefit of that for what oil it does sell).

Thank your nearest Republican today!

They Are Predictably Crazy as Usual

Congress, Corptocracy, GOP, gun control, political parties, the NRA

teaparty-guns x-largeAs we pointed out a couple of days ago, the public is pretty darn clear about what they are in favor of. The President laid out a number of items that are in total agreement with the opinions of the electorate.

Boehner has passed, suggesting that he will do nothing until the Senate puts forth something. And the usual GOP southern white congress sheep are falling in line with the now-lunatic sounding NRA.

They keep saying the same stupid thing–I will oppose anything that takes away the impinges upon 2nd Amendment rights.

Well, gee, nobody is talking about taking away anyone’s second amendment rights.

The GOP once again seems more than willing to screw the majority of citizens in their worship of the fringe crazies out there who make no bones about why they need their military style weapons–they are going to have to repel the US Army when it comes to take their guns. These people are simply delusional and the sooner they are ignored the better. They of course didn’t squeak when the same legislation was passed in the 90’s. It’s only now, and it’s only this President. It is all about racism. It’s about nothing else.

Meanwhile the NRA places its latest tone-deaf ad on the TV, featuring the secret security protection afforded the Obama children and asks why aren’t “your children” valued as much? Oh perhaps it’s because YOU don’t receive 100 death threats a day. YOU aren’t the representative of all this is right and all that is WRONG with America. YOU aren’t BLACK. And so you’re children aren’t at risk, except to the random violence that threatens us all. How many millions would it take? You do know it would be irrational don’t you?

And while we are at it–in your thirst to sell guns to all those you have scared witless: Um, ever see a picture of Ronald Reagan being shot?

ReaganYou say that the answer to guns is more guns, in more hands.

Look at the picture.

How many guns are surrounding the President here?

Huh?

Something like 8 or more.

Against one guy.

He managed to shoot how many?

Shaddup.

Λ

I’m reading It’s Even Worse Than It Looks by Mann and Ornstein. They are 30-year watchers of Washington, working respectively at the Brookings and American Institute. They trace the intractable condition of Washington to Newt Gingrich to a great degree. There are other reasons, but he stands out. Newt came to Congress in 1979. He bemoaned that Congress had been in the hands of the Democrats for over 24 years. He wanted to change that. He determined that the way to do that was to make Congress unworkable, by simply blocking everything. Only then, he thought might the citizens let go of their pet representatives and vote in new blood–blood he would control.

And he accomplished it by and large.

From Frontline, I learned that then retired Congressman Gingrich, met on the day of President’s Obama’s first inauguration with Cantor, McCarthy, Ryan, and other Congressional Republicans and determined that the way to regain power was to stonewall EVERYTHING Obama would try to do. An e-mail subsequently went forth to that effect, giving all Republicans their orders.

When the President presented a package of stimulus that included much that the GOP had supported in years past, he was met with a stonewall of nos to everything. No exceptions.

Boehner and Obama met secretly for weeks. Boehner agreed to tax increases in return for cuts in spending. The President offered significant cuts in Medicare and Medicaid. A deal was fairly struck. Boehner went to his caucus. He then failed to return any calls. He then called a press conference and said the President “was not serious” about the debt problem. In reality his teabagging jackasses had told him to go fly a kite.

During the health care debate, Mitch McConnell ordered members of the committee working on the legislation, to keep talking, but to make NO agreements. They were to pretend to be engaged, all the while they were only to drag on the discussions as long as possible hoping to destroy any legislation.

What is striking about all this is that these men admit this stuff with candor. They are not ashamed. They are not embarrassed to be found out. They think that it is legitimate that their ONLY consideration is their own power. There is NO mention in any of their discussions about the welfare of the American people–that is until their get their faces in front of cameras. Then it’s all about what the American people demand.

The Democrats are not blameless. They responded to some of Gingrich’s shenanigans such as grabbing the C-Span time (usually used to read in speeches to be included in the Congressional Record) and making outrageous speeches against traitorous Democrats to an empty floor, by cutting off amendments and debate. They responded in kind to the attempts to make them look bad.

Now we live in a world where the Congress is a joke.

It’s beyond a joke. It’s a travesty of self-interest–none of it aimed at the welfare of the American people. All are in the pay of massive corporations. The difference is minor, but important. Republicans politicians don’t care what business does to the workforce. They are part of the elite, and figure they are due that, and the rest of us are due what we have. We are not the fittest, we have sunk to our level which is worker drones.

The Democrats? They are beholden to the corporate interests as well. The only difference is that they see that a downtrodden worker class will eventually resist. Decent wages, decent health care and social security ensure that the masses remain quiet and they actually have a chance to rise, if talented to the upper echelons of power and money.

That’s the way I see it.

We Got SNOW!!!

2nd Amendment, John Boehner, life in the foothills

desert SnowYes, Margaret, we too get snow here in the desert. We are “high” desert and yesterday was a day filled with salt pellet snow, followed by the real stuff! All in all we got about half an inch. It’s still spitting some this morning as we traversed the landscape.

Diego had a ball, racing here and there and going much deeper than usual into the brush as the goat heads which plague his toes were buried under the white shroud of powder. Actually, it’s fairly squeaky snow which all true snow knowers will recognize. That’s snow that has a high water content which means it’s very near the temperature to melt.

It now claims to be about 30° and a high is expected in the low forties, so we may get some melt. If not, tomorrow for sure when the temperatures are due to be even higher. Then it’s back to our norm of mid-50’s. So we won’t have this white stuff  to kick around long.

I can testify that our Chihuahuan desert is overloaded with bunnies and jackrabbits. The tracks were astronomical and we saw one hopping around. As usual they make for safety long before Diego can get a tooth to them. I can’t seem to convince him that digging like mad will not result in a succulent rabbit stew, but he keeps trying. Either that or he is hungry for Chinese and is using the old tried and never trued method of digging his way to Shanghai.

that's crazy 174Sooo, Boehner got re-elected as Speaker, not without a minor rebellion by the eye-spinners.

At right is my painting of the Tea People. Naw, not really, I swiped it from the Google Images.  But it does resemble Louis Gohmert a bit though don’t you think? Louis, unaware of what century he is in, voted to elect Allen West Speaker. I hear that Quasimodo got a vote too.

Boehner has been spanked as they say, and we shall now see how he wants to be remembered in history. Does he wish to go down as the puppet of the Tea People or as the man who realized his fate and decided to leave a legacy of actually accomplishing something. The jury, is as they say, still out on that one.

The Contrarian pointed out a rather salient fact the other day. Or I should probably say theory. Now, when the gun toters of America claim that we have to protect the 2nd Amendment against encroachment because it is the hallmark of our democracy that we have arms in case the government goes wacko (make an argument that it isn’t already, I dare ya) they do have a point. We must, they argue be able to rise up and take “our country back.”

Well that sounds all nice and all. And look around the middle east and see that armed insurrection is occurring in lots of places. But of course, all these countries did not have long established traditions of democracy. Some have pointed out that many repressive regimes started out by instituting gun control. But again, almost none of them were democracies to start with. Most were either dictatorships already or aristocracies.

I do not, therefore see that these events around the world have much to teach us about our own circumstances.

My question is what good is an AK-47 or any of its myriad offspring against the likes of predator drones, missiles, fighter jets, and all the cornucopia of fire power that the government can bring to bear upon people with hand guns and rifles? No “revolution” has a chance to succeed without the military going over, and frankly how likely is that? Whose gonna be in charge?

I frankly don’t recall reading any time that the Revolutionary forces in the US had issues with weapons. But even with apparent access to the normal weaponry of the day, they required the assistance of France with its naval fire power in order to win that war. Are we going to get help from Canada? Or Mexico? Or Brazil?

The idea that revolution is around the corner in America is the fantasy death wish of a small and crazy segment of the country who are deluded into ecstasies of orgasmic shuddering at the thought of sighting in their scopes on the likes of Barney Franks, Nancy Pelosi, and all those other lefty bleeding hearts that they so detest. Do you really think that there are countries out there other than the now dead Qaddafis and Husseins, who are crazy enough to help the “insurgents”?

That is why the argument fails in my opinion. There has never been an even close call when it comes to a real legitimate fear that this country was falling into the hands of some dictatorial menace. The menace we face today is corptocracy, if that is a word. We are nearly owned lock, stock and barrel by corporate interests and that plague is spreading around the globe and will soon ingest EVERY government.

So am I right? Or wildly wrong?

Oh and a short perusal of the blogs that kicked up from “snow in the desert” proves again the old adage–stupid stays stupid. You would not believe the number of posts that suggest that snowfall in southern parts of Texas and New Mexico, PROVE that there is no global warming. Yes and proof that you can talk is proof you ain’t stupid too. Right?

ConqueringFearSee, I agree with this. This is not the way to conquer the fear of falling off cliffs. The way to do that is to STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM CLIFFS.

No, I’m actually not talking about the so-called fiscal cliff, which we averted and which was nothing but silliness from start to finish played by silly men and women who are being paid to govern and since nobody has a firm grasp as to what that means exactly, they can tiddlywink their way through the year as they spend the far greater part of their time counting the money in their re-election funds.

Or posturing.

Politicians are good at posturing. The Contrarian would call them posers. People who are highly aware that you are looking/listening and therefore are performing in a manner that they think will get your approval. How’s that for my definition. Definitionally speaking it is to present a false front.

Now, actors do this for a living and we applaud them, the better they do it.

Politicians do it because they think we are too stupid to recognize it for what it is.

But since we are addicted to both movies and TV, that would be a very stupid  assumption wouldn’t it? We’re rather expert at it. You might say we are connoisseurs of posing.

Frankly, to the experienced eye, politicians are quite lousy at it. Eric Cantor is a case in point. Now Eric ain’t stupid in the true sense of the word. He knew that as to the taxing thingie, the GOP goose had been cooked. He knew that if they didn’t agree with the Senate bill, the GOP was gonna own the ensuing (fill in the blank as to your concept of the “disaster”) leap off the abyss cliff. He knew that. And of course that would have been bad. Now the likes of Steve (If I only had a brain or a heart) King, and Michelle (Marcus is NOT Gay) Bachmann, and lordy our very special boy Louis (I don’t play stupid, I am stupid) Gohmert, these folks are knock down drag it out IQ knuckle draggers of the first order, they really didn’t care, let alone know that. The math was way beyond them in the first place. And in the second place they are, did I just say that? STUPID.

But Eric knew. So he safely waited until the thing had enough votes and then he slips in there all high and mighty and with great glorious moral outrage and registers his NO. So as to impress the Tea People who as we all know are NOT noted for mental acuity of the even tenth order, and as is reported are all embedded with homing devices so they can be found when then wander out of the neighborhood and start undressing in the middle of the street. They EAT UP the Cantor posing.

And I suppose that now Mr. Boehner, who is still scraping the egg off his face, might stop pontificating “Mr. President, it’s time to get serious!” all the while he was sweating a bucket of orange goo because he can’t control the Lipton folks. He needs to also let go of the “everybody knows we have a spending problem.” Be sure that when you hear “everybody knows” what it really means is “everyone should know”, and that actually just a handful of people believe whatever is said after that.  This is all John of Orange posing as if his life depended upon it. And maybe it does.

Anyway, there is still Lindsey Graham, my favorite poser of the day. Lindsey poses as a straight man when it’s clear that he is just itching to cross dress in black nylons and corset. In fact, if you peek under his little Brooks Brothers shirt, I bet you can see a bit of lace. Which is way okay with me, being that I kinda always get along with cross dressers and have found all those that I knew over the years to be rather delightful BFF’s. But Lindsey lives in a very SOUTHERN RED STATE, and well, he tries to keep that stuff under wraps, figuratively and any other way.

All the while he’s huffing about how he’s gonna not vote for that debt limit increase without something “serious” being done about “entitlements” which is a stupid word since the stuff they are really talking about are EARNED BENEFITS for the most part. Right in front of him is John of McCain who is not all that “war hero” that he poses as, and actually is one mean old fart. Bet your belly button that Cindy spends her time anywhere he ain’t. John of McCain poses as a Senator, and directs his sidekick and brown-nosing sycophant Lindsey as they get their jollies by stamping their feet and sounding tough.

Then of course the best posers of all is the entire infestation over at Fox Noise. They are double posers which is hard to pull off and I give them credit for doing a pretty good job. They are posing as ideologues posing as journalists. They are neither of course. They don’t believe half the crap that drools from their mouths and the only journalism they know is the smell of a newspaper.

You can tell that because when confronted with their rhetoric having incited someone to actually carry out some awful thing like MURDER (see Dr. George Tiller), they feign utter shock and surprise, given that they can’t believe anyone buys their crock of crocodile poo in the first place.

So that’s all I know about posing–which had nothing to do with sitting on the edge of  precipice, which I find STUPID. I find all people who do stupid things like climb tall things without a rope or walking on tiny ropes without a net STUPID, and though I don’t wish anyone ill, if they fall, well, the gene pool is much the better for it I think.

What are you thinking about?

Geiger Counting My Way to Sanity

GI swear before all that is holy, that it’s soon gonna be necessary to find a way through this madness that has become the American Psyche.

I told ya a long time ago about my unfriend Beth? The one who is a fundie church organizer? The one who reads the bible literally and unless someone agrees with her literalist interpretation, they are wrong? That one? The one who unfriended me on Facebook because I “hated Jesus”? Yes, that’s the one.

Well, she’s weighed in on a mutual classmate’s remarks about the insanity of Wayne LaPierre’s insane proposals. She had the audacity to cite chapter and verse (they always do that) implying that Jesus called for violence as a method of self-defense. Luke 22: 32-29 or around about there.

I won’t bore you with the analysis except to say that most scholars believe Jesus was using the call to arm as metaphor. When of course one of his disciples just moments later swung at a member of the arresting party and cut his ear, Jesus demanded the violence to stop and healed the man’s ear. But in the hands of the ill-educated when it comes to scripture, of course, it fits right in with the right-wing Christianist belief that wars are good as long as they are righteous, and of course all wars are righteous if they accomplish the ends you think are good. The standard is simple.

So, I’m glad I got lots of hair on my head cuz I’m tempted to tear it out if somebody doesn’t slap some sense into these buffoons. NO, we don’t need to arm schools. Columbine had an armed guard. He stopped nothing. The shooter in Connecticut’s mother had weapons. They didn’t save her life. I’m told (haven’t verified it folks) that Virginia Tech had its own swat team that of course never got to intervene before it was all over there. More guns is not the answer. Keeping them out of the hands of irresponsible people is, as best we can.

Doomsday-Planning I’m pretty sure that Boehner thought it was the end of the world on Thursday night when he had to withdraw his Plan “B” because he’s own bunch of yahoos from Planet X wouldn’t approve of his tax on those making $1 MILLION or more a year.

See I figure that the corporate masters don’t really like this sort of thing. These Teabuggers have gotten way out of hand now, and think they are actually “controlling” something. The puppet masters I figure will start putting some money into the accounts of some “new” teabuggers who are willing to do as told.

Do you think the really really really rich give a big raspberry whether they have to pay (avoid) a few more taxes? They want to get on with the real issues of regulations. Enough already idiot children of the Norquist Godling.

John is under his bed and is gonna stay there until one of the Koch brothers orders him to face the music.

NRA-Tipping-Point America seems to be suggesting that it’s about had it with the mind-numbing craziness of the NRA.

It makes you wonder though.

What makes a tipping point?

Why isn’t your tragedy enough?

Why is his tragedy enough?

Humans are strange beings when you get right down to it.

Second-Amendment-Scoreboard Which brings us to the point.

Never have so many died, so that nobody who had to be deposed, actually was.

I mean is that over kill?

In some countries, everybody has to be in the military service. They all have to have a gun and learn to use it.

But the kicker is–

They don’t take it home.

It stays in an armory.

I am just a simple person, with a half-way decent education. And I don’t understand why we love guns so much, and killing, and mayhem?

washington-nativity Of course I’m not alone in that I guess.

I asked the question on Twitter yesterday: Name me 10 rational Republicans.

I can’t get past 3.

Can you?

How have we come to a place where the ONLY thing that decides a vote is whether it will lead to being primaried?

Is it such a great job pretending to have power when you vote is bought and paid for and you dare not do anything you are not ordered to do?

What kind of pride do you take in that Mr./Ms Congress Person?

Is it the money? Can’t you do better in private spheres of greed? Can’t you just leave governing to a few decent folks who actually care?

You all make me nauseous.

fiscal cliff So I guess we are going over.

I think that if we randomly picked 535 people out of a hat and asked them to figure out this budget mess, we would fix things up pretty darn well in less than a week.

I really do.

Or randomly toss darts at a wall covered with post-it notes. Each with a cut or tax hike on the back. The first ten are IT.

Or ask a class of 2nd graders.

Or have gerbil races with various cuts and taxes on little tags on their collars.

Or sending proposals by pigeon to Tahiti. First to arrive is IT.

They say you get what you pay for.

They say you never get nothin’ for free.

The politicals always speak on behalf of me.

I’m the “American People” they talk about.

They say I’m smart.

If I’m so smart how the hell did they get elected?

I guess I’m not so smart.

Did you ever meet a little kid who said they wanted to grow up and be a Senator?

Me neither.

Wonder when that notion pops up.

I bet when the job gets boring and the idea of making widgets for the next thirty years makes you wanna blow your brains out. That’s when it hits. “I think I’ll run for Congress!”

We need a pill for that.

Better yet, a lobotomy.

handguns_resize_p465

Here’s one for ya.

At exactly what age did you conclude that you were smarter than the people you elected to make decisions FOR you?

I mean seriously.

Some are easy of course. My dog is smarter than Louis Gohmert. I figure a horse is way smarter than Michele Bachmann.  Eric Cantor? Oh, a rhesus monkey for sure.

Get in the groove.

Give me some of your favorite “smarter thans”.

Or continue preparing for Christmas. Whatever.
