Well, yesterday the sun was mostly absent in the sky, and toward evening, the sky darkened quite badly and a thunder boomer sounded now and again and at least one sharp lightening stab arced through the sky.
This first photo was taken facing southeast across the fields, part way down our lane to the road. I found it odd that the pink would be present here where there was no light at all to the north and west.
Going north back up to the top of the hill, I faced to the west and a bit south and captured these lovely storm clouds.
Your looking a the skies over East Central Iowa a bit after 8 pm. If you would like to see more pictures of the sky worldwide, please drop by: SkyWatch.
Nice shots, Sherry. One of the professional photographers whose blog I follow said that at sunset, you should always turn around and look at the “other” sky. It’s amazing, isn’t it?
I don’t think I have ever seen nice clouds in the sky and the top picture has that neat touch of pink.
Nice photography.

Very impressive skies. Though Storm and lovely don’t go together very well on my end! 😉
Cheers, Klaus

It truly IS amazing the sky can be so pretty even when a storm is threatening.

Oh those are some nasty looking clouds for sure, beautiful tho
I love, love, love these photos.
Intense and lovely.
I remember lightning storms in Iowa from over fifty years ago.
The colors in that first shot are stunning. Two beautiful photos.
Beautiful. Love the pink and lavender. MB
Wow, guys, I’m overwhelmed again. Such kind remarks from everyone. I’m off to skip around to visit as many of you as I can. For the record, the Contrarian took the first and I the second. The dogs remained in the bronco and just woofed here and there, seemingly unimpressed with the photography. LOL.
hese are realyy duksy and dramatic images. Well done.
Beautiful photos! Mine is up as well. Hope to see you there.
Have a great weekend!
Nita
Amazing skys and colors!
Hi Coca and Nita and Babooska, I’m pleased to see you stop by. I’ll drop by yours too, in time. I try to do 5 a day and hit new ones each time. So it will take a while, but hopefully I’ll be by in the upcoming week or weeks. Dialup is soooo unfriendly for this. Takes me nearly 10 min. to load and then the comment! LOL. Patience please, I am doing my best, and your encouraging words spur me on!
Lovely colours in the firt shot:)
Petunia
oh so beautiful!!!
Sorry, I’m a little late because I was sailing this weekend.
So I stop by and say thank you for a nice SWF.
Thanks Tors, Mary and Petunia, I’m running late these last couple of days, but hope to get back over to sky watch tomorrow to run some more great sites. Thanks for you visits!
