I have no mercy or compassion for a society that crushes people, and then penalizes them for not being able to stand up under the weight.” ~~ Malcolm X,

    I would add; “or two”.

Ya suppose that is what’s under “The Thinker’s” stone and he’s pondering whether or not to get up and let him out or sit and ponder this situation longer?

*snort* I’ve made my husband start watching cartoons, they are alarmingly similar to watching politics!

  4. Thanks for that link to The Economist! Great article. It’s a shame that a majority of Republicans just want to defeat Obama rather than support a candidate who makes sense and doesn’t pander to extremist views.

Hey….it’s October. where’s our new quote?

OMG….I love you! I have really felt insane since the election. All these doomsdayers. I have never heard such horrible things being said by so many people. I have been feeling like the last sane person left in an insane world. I found your page a love it. THANK U

My goodness, I thank you profusely. One learns after a few years of reading political blogs that one must find the people one can trust to have a handle on things and cling to them fiercely when you are most afraid that it’s all slipping away. I try to send those finds on to those who read my silliness.

I am a new reader having jumped ship from whatreallyhappened.com because of the owner’s endlessly charming perspectives about women(I’m at sarcasm maximum here). I have tried to remain accepting and tolerant(for me anyway) but today’s nugget of wisdom was: “Back in the 1990s, every frustrated woman seeking a bit of attention was screaming “rape” at every man they could find.”
    And I’m done…
Thank you for having a sane space and brilliant commentary.

Why welcome to our island of sanity. I can’t promise I won’t piss you off about something, cuz I sure have opinions, but you are always free to sound off! We have a fun bunch here and enjoy spirited conversation. !END

Sherry, can you still talk with your tongue so firmly planted in cheek?

Nice post. A few years ago I asked one of my union brothers if his wife had registered to vote, and he told me that in his family “the men do the votin’…” He was serious. Women aren’t allowed to vote in his church, and he damn sure wasn’t marrying outside of his creed. So he makes all the political decisions, and she’s free to set the menu for the family meals.

I didn’t get my eyebrows back down until I made it home to ‘splain things to my wife, just to get her take on that family dynamic. Needless to say, we aren’t converts, quite yet.

    • Sherry says:

Scary to think that there are plenty of people who think and act just like this and women who are so beaten down emotionally that they think this is right and even God’s will. Lord save us from such people. !END

  9. Merry Christmas, Sherry! And to Contrarian and Diego as well. I’m getting ready to walk next door for Christmas with my sister and her husband and our three dogs. Joyous day! I look forward to spending 2013 with you, dear!

Tell me, what do you think?
